The temperatures are trending colder also.. Both GFS and Canadian models are showing temps in teens and 20's for next Tuesday and Wednesday.

21 inches in Baton Rouge seems a little off but not unrealistic.

Every 10 days GFS has snow and when that day comes, sunny skies and 50 degrees.

Louisiana isn't getting snow.

It pisses me off, but it ain't happening.

What do our resident meteorologists think about this?

I am flying back from DC on Tuesday, or so I’d like to fly back on Tuesday.

Weather Channel currently predicting 1" of snow in Lafayette next Tuesday. That's the first time I've seen an actual forecast show snow in the area.

There will be ice flows down the Mississippi.

Gary Chouest may need to relocate one of his ice breakers back to the bayou...LOL

If BR gets 21 inches of snow, I will run naked down Airline Highway from I-12 to the state fairgrounds.

That's more than likely the case but the models have been consistent with south LA having a snow/ice event but the severity is still very inconsistent. I think we can all agree that we not getting 20" of snow.... lol

Looking at the long-range on models is really more useful for looking at overall pattern and potential trends than looking for what the weather will be doing on a specific day that far out. One tends to be less disappointed if they look at it that way, too.

Thr 24-hour positive snow depth change shows about 8" in Lafayette (on that run)..

Admittedly I don't know if sleet would register on that model as snow either

Finally our local meterologists in Lafayette are starting to acknowledge we have a better than 50% chance of a winter storm in south louisiana next week. He said this is the best set up he's seen in years for large accumulation and Rob Perrilo is never wrong.....lol

21 inches of sleet would be devastating for the state of Louisiana. Everything would shut down and people would basically trapped in there houses without power. Crippling.
