I’ve got about 3” of snow at my location. Everything covered, including the roads. Seems to be changing over to some sleet now.

Gotta be 3 inches now here in Bham. So is it going to keep snowing or will it eventually start raining?

That’s what I’m afraid of, going to get to around 36 today and then down to 24 tonight. Roads are already a mess, just going to get worse.

Had about 1.5" come down between 6:00 and 7:00 this morning. Slid down the driveway to the road in the truck and made it the seven miles to the office. Hwy 27 from Rome, GA to Bremen is completely white. Even on the slight inclines on the road it's easy to lose traction. Had to drop it to 4x4 to get up one little hill in Bremen.
Big, heavy snow fakes turned to heavy sleet at about 7:45 in Carroll and Haralson counties here. I have no idea what I-20 looks like, but the every road through town is completely covered in white. Not very deep, but certainly enough to make it treacherous. It gets a little more slick after a few cars have passed over the roads and packed the snow into ice.
I'm fixing to head back to the house and let my coon hound out to see what she thinks of it. This'll be her first time to see this stuff.
Any of y'all that have to drive in this - take it slow and steady and enjoy the adventure.

Update: At least an inch here. It's really coming down, hoping not to lose power

Kurt Mellish, just so you know, is a communist.
He may be. But Kirk Mellish is a pretty damned good forecaster. I have no idea what his politics are, but I've never heard him espouse any of that climate change ideology.

Yeah. Anyone who wants to go sledding better do so early. Looks like rain soon. Going to be a real mess tomorrow morning once that freezes.

About 1-1.5” here in west central GA south of Atlanta. Starting to transition to sleet/ice pellets/snow mix, but enough that the kids got out and got to launch a few snowballs.

Mellish is usually on point, just needed to move those lines about 30-40 miles south.

Shockingly, we’re getting blanketed here in NW Atlanta. Pretty steady snow at the moment.
Yep. Cobb County is getting it hard.

Almost 3” in parts of Buckhead already.
Saw this from Marietta:
2-3 inches in Sandy Springs, Roswell, Paulding County, etc.

I'm right on that lowest orange line on his sketch. There's about 1.5" snow on the ground right now and it turned from snow to rain/sleet about 45 minutes ago. He's off a bit, but it's nowhere near the 5" TWC was screaming about.
I thought it looked more like 3", but my wife assured me her estimation of 1.5" is more accurate than any estimate any man gives that includes measurements in inches. (She was right)

Anyone in Oxford, MS? I’m seeing they have heavy snow now through the rest of the morning and it started last night around 9pm according to my forecast. Wondering if they’re looking at a foot of snow there

Woke up to about 2" of snow in Tuscaloosa County. Our 8 year old granddaughter has never seen snow. She's bundled up like it's Antarctica outside to go play in it before the rain moves in.
