Models starting to come in showing a little more snow for MS/AL. Could be trending towards a decent winter weather event on Friday.

Is it me, or does that ice accumulation seem to be slowly drifting to the south?

Yes it will be a close call, depends where exactly the low tracks in the gulf. Kind of like guessing wind speeds and precipitation amounts for a given location when forecasting a hurricane.

I’m North West of Atlanta and my apps are showing Friday starting around 1Pm with a on and currently calling for 5-6 inches Friday alone. And Saturday getting a couple also.

I have a 9/7/3 year olds that would go nuts if that’s truly the case.

Well the 00z runs were an unexpected change.

All of them backed wayyyy off on snowfall totals.

i know here in Bessemer, AL - they are saying maybe an inch - I feel like it is gonna be more than that. they almost always miss on the low side of the forecast - i do not fault them at all, but my gut says we get more

Day 2 of shoveling out and it still sucks.

I finally got enough cleared to get out of the drive way. I took up 2" thick pieces of ice that were 2'x3'. I didn't have 2' of ice at the edge of the driveway, but it was about 15".

I have more to do, but I'm not sure about today.

Since Snowmageddon, Birmingham meteorologists do enough to cover their arse. They don’t want to say nothing will happen because if a significant event happens that cripples the city for a few days, they look like clowns. If they go high, the city shuts down but nothing happens, people will also get angry. They always forecast snow in that 1 inch zone even when models are showing more. The last thing Spann wants to do is another apology video.

From my experience, if we get a real snow in Birmingham, it overperforms.
