Accuweather just adjusted it downward for Collierville....snow Sunday, 11 degrees overnight. High Monday is 14, low is 5.

I really hope they have that wrong. That's insane.

I think you will be cutting it close. But if I am reading that map correct I wouldn't think you will have to do much prep. Other than maybe bring the dog in might run the water to be safe. Looks like 20-25 here on the northshore.

Right. Just like a heat wave in July isn't proof of it, an artic blast in January is not disproof.

Morons.

I love how people believe that climate science is any more reliable than the study of economics. They act as if it's a real "hard" science like biology or physics. But I agree with you. They are morons just like those who blame a strong hurricane on climate change.

Our climateon Earth is the most volatile in our solar system by a long shot. Climate change has and will happen as long as our planet exists. I believe our actions have a negligible on the climate of this planet. We are still in an ice age for God's sake so I would imagine that the Earth warming is inevitable.

I like how it didn't change from "global warning" to "climate change" until it started getting cold.

People who believe climate change is man made are my favorites because, if nothing else, it shows who I can discount entirely. Morons.

That's January 1985 type cold right there.

P.S. Those temps aren't impossible especially if there is a snowcover on the ground.

This isn't the classic setup for snow in the South with a low in the Gulf. This is one of those rare occassions where the depth and strength of the cold air is so strong that it creates light snow along and just behind the front. Tennessee looks like it could get an inch or two while northern MS, AL, and GA might squeeze out a dusting to an inch.

I should clarify. Those high temps are close to Jan 1985 or at least Dec 1989. I'm pretty sure Memphis went below zero in Jan 1985 for the lows so these lows won't reach Jan 1985. The high temps will be close though.

The prediction for Sunday in Minnesota is a low of -30 degrees. That will be as cold as it's been in 20 years. It will be much colder in northern Minnesota.

I was joking.

I remember 1989 like it was yesterday. I was working at Fed Ex at night, and the hub broke. Literally. Supposedly, it got so cold the conveyors stopped running. We worked something like 30 straight hours. (Also found out that they dayshift guys had no clue as to what they were doing. At all.) I have never been so cold as I was driving around on a tug. You'd hope for an airplane with engines running to drive behind just to feel warm. Get cold just thinking about it.

Didn't it get to like 5 below in 95 or 96? Seems like it did right before Christmas. Or maybe it remember it being colder than it really was.

Memphis in '85 was bad as shite. I had to put on two more popped collar Coca Cola shirts under my Hard Rock sweatshirt to stay warm during that blast.
