If you're going to be in a catastrophic plane accident, wouldn't you have some hope if the plane lands and going down runway on belly?

But no, then it just blows up at the end. Terrible. Far worse for most than if it just exploded upon landing.

Asian pilots. American pilots would have pulled it off.

Why would a bird strike make it to where all of the landing gears would not deploy?

WTF is a bird strike?

It's where a bird or multiple birds are flying in the same area as an airplane and they come in contact with one another.

So to be clear: you are hoping for folks to come back from the dead?

Or resurrection?

South Korean first responders are pretty good at ascertaining whether plane crash victims are dead or alive.

Dumb arse.

Landing gear failure due to bird strike

Do we not have tech available in the commercial airline industry to prevent these type of bird accidents?

Once again, the best chance for survival was to be seated in the last row. Cheap seats for the win (hopefully).

Considering “survivor” is termed as “someone still breathing upon landing”, that really isn’t good IMHO. Just because those 22 were still breathing doesn’t mean they make it. And it doesn’t look good for the 151

Honestly I’m not sure I’d even want to survive that

Prevent them?

No.

Mitigate them?

Yes.

That bird strike happened to a…wait for it…

Airbus.

If a bird strike caused all of the landing gear to malfunction, that is a Boeing problem.

but if it was a complete hydraulics failure then they were flaps zero.

On a -800 the trail flaps are on Hyd Sys B. If there is failure on that system, there is an electrical motor that allows flaps to be deployed but limited to 15 degrees.

Wow. It looks like the strike happened while on final approach.
