The interstate truck lobby is has been 'buying' members of congress for decades now. REASONABLE ideas how to slow down/mitigate the mayhem, are routinely dismissed under the guise that ANYTHING which slows down commerce is bad !
Simple and sane ideas might include : 1. 18 wheelers limited to slow/right lanes and barred from passing lanes 2. 18 wheeler speed limits set at least 5mph lower....can we all not agree to waiting for the new washer/toaster etc. for another day or two ?

They should have hooked a few wreckers up and pulled that hunk of junk on the shoulder. Then tell the truck company to get it after midnight.

Keith’s Towing has the rig on the shoulder by 5pm when I passed by headed west. Traffic was at a standstill headed east for at least ten miles. All on east bound ramps were stopped resulting in all side streets also at a standstill.

I just got home. Left work at 4:30 PM yesterday.
