Main Event Entertainment is once again planning to open its first Louisiana location in Baton Rouge, five months after the company confirmed it had scrapped plans for a facility at the former Tinseltown movie theater site on Siegen Lane.

quote:

The Dallas-based entertainment company, which offers bowling, laser tag, arcades, ropes courses, food and alcohol, is in talks to lease the former hhgregg store at the Mall of Louisiana.

quote:

If the deal goes forward, Main Event and the Mall of Louisiana will work to add another 20,000 square feet to the 30,000-square-foot building and reroute traffic at the street adjacent to the property. Smith doesn’t have a timeline, but estimated the work will take between 180 and 240 days once construction begins.

quote:

“We primarily cater to families, but there’s also a pretty big following from the young adult crowd,” he says. “Depending on where it’s located, bowling leagues are pretty big too.”

We have a Main Event here and it's fantastic. Of course it's in a lily white, middle class part of town so prayers sent.

The area it's gonna be in is predominately white.

I give it 6 months before the thugs make it their hangout and run off all the real paying customers.

As of a few weeks ago, I still haven't seen enough to be too worried.

They'll have to set the price to a point where it will make the majority of the people have to "stretch" in order to go there.

If they don't, it will become an unsupervised child sitting service.

Oh, and follow Calandro's golden rule

To quote Chris Rock-
quote:

Every city has two malls. The mall the white people go to, and the mall the white people used to go to.
Anyone that has been to the mall lately knows this means we're due for a new mall.

I just don't see how this works in the BR area. You got Juban Crossing and Tanger Outlet, and yet I would still occasionally see a few people from the AP (for example) come to MOL.

Are y'all really that afraid of "culture" in the mall while shopping? How does that affect you in any way?

FWIW, the one here is managed really well. They're not afraid to put someone out on their arse if they get out of line. It's also priced up enough to keep some folks out.

I imagine it'll be the same there.

The mindset has been an OT staple for as long as I can remember.
