Best thing about Shreveport is North Bossier. That is until 22O's closed due to "ice" and/or flood waters.

While true, lets not act like that is just a Shreveport problem. BR and NO have no room to talk.

If they ever close Barksdale we are FUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKEEEEEDDDDD
Same goes for when Texas becomes smart and gets casinos. Look at what happened to LA Downs when Texas started allowing horse racing.
Ghost town in a decade. Both sides of the river.
Shreveport would do well if they didn't keep electing dumbasses like Ollie Tyler and Big Cedric. But what can you expect when 54% of the demographics have so much culcha?

I never really understand when I see people here say "without LSU, BR would be (fill in the blank)."
Well...yeah. Without the food and music, New Orleans would suck. Without the amusement parks, Orlando would be....ok bad example, Orlando still sucks.
But the idea of taking the positive things out of a place to show that without them it would be worse off is an asinine argument.

What happened to all the Haynesville Shale hype and the millionaires it created?

Probably 90% held by production. They're cashing checks.
When the price of nat gas fell out though, they slowed the drilling programs to a crawl. Originally they wanted to do multiple wells per section. Now the majority of sections only have one well holding it. If the price and demand come back, drilling could ramp up again and increase production.

This is true but Barksdale is not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. They AF is not even looking at a new long range bomber to replace the B52, and they are actually in the process of retrofitting new tech in all the planes. IMO, Barksdale is safe for a while.
The same could be said for many cities around the country regarding military bases closing.

Yes, just celebrated 25 years in business. One of the decent independent food places in town.

North Bossier is great, but it's extremely boring living there. There's nothing to do and no good places to eat other than chain restaurants. At least in Shreveport there's a little excitement when your car or house gets broken into.

That's good news. Thinking back I could have sworn it was more that 25 years. Like 1989 to now but those were some incredibly delinquent years for me.

Shreveport is still Shreveport and I suppose it always will be.
Shreveport used to be a pretty decent place, sort of like a big Mayberry at one time, it's demise. imo, began, and this evolved over a few years, with the downfall of George D'artois(who kept the streets safe and trouble confined to trouble areas,) gov't set asides that were put in place just as a pretty devastating recession was hitting the state, killing many long time successful businesses, and driving away a couple of generations of bright, industrious people that left because they didn't want to raise their kids where what Shreveport has become, shitty public schools, high crime, and trashiness all around, casinos didn't help the area either, again, imo

Been in North Bossier my whole life, aside from some time in BR. And that is 100% correct.

Ok, fine. Bristol, CT would be a whole lot shittier if ESPN's campus wasn't located there.
I still don't get the point that's trying to be proven.
The Cavs would be a shittier team if Lebron James wasn't playing for them. Well...yeah. But he is, so what's the point of that argument?
The only difference between the BR narrative and the two examples I gave is that LSU will always be in BR. It's not going anywhere (I doubt ESPN does either, but it potentially could pick up and move).

I feel like there is some confusion or smearing of the lines up in this thread.
Sure, Bossier isn't bad at all. I like it. Plenty to do. Lot of up and coming areas. But Shreveport? lol, absolute shithole... even compared to BR. Not even close
