Guys, I just realized that we're whitesplaining to NBR what they should do with the mall. We need to let them decide the future of their building.

Good point. Perhaps the entire mall good be offered as the new home for the COA or some other non-profit.

Yeah you know a mall is on the rise when a shitty for profit school moves in

It's better than a vacant building.

I rembember!!! Bon Marche Mall was the best place to be circa 81-82 as a kid. I can remember that popcorn smell from the theater all the way by McDonalds and the Pet Store at the other end(Wards)?

I remember going see movies at Bon Marche. I remember the McDonalds, but I didn't realize there was a piccadilly in there.

When I would go to the mall with my parents.. At Cortana they would always go to the one there to eat

Before the movie theatre shut down at Bon Marche, was it the only thing open there for awhile?

Outdoor shopping malls seem to be the new thing rather than indoor malls. I don't really understand the appeal in a place where its either balls hot, raining, or cold enough to be uncomfortable 90 percent of the year.

If I'm not mistaken, the Cortana property did not flood.

The property did not, but many of the surrounding roads did.

For what?

Could be anything from raw materials(non chem/toxic) for area plants to off-site warehouse/dist center for paper products from area papermills

Also could be co-mingling facility(bulk items arrive there to be mixed with custom deliveries to area stores like Target/Sams/Walmart).

Recent ground up build outs in the area: Unifirst Distribution, Carquest Distribution center, Orion Instrument and some other huge building across from Unifirst behind that Walmart.

That area is in a very good area for these types of businesses...

My exact thought when I read about this the other day. Convenient location right along the divide between North and South BR. Tons of parking. Room for all the old people to walk around and do what old people do.

Probably "not good enough" for COA though.

It solves the problems of the loitering and hanging out that scares away actual shoppers.
