Yeah they are really small, not growing just moving. Doctor said they would likely not even show on a regular x ray.

Doctor really isnt pushing biopsy. Says I'm in between, "purgatory" is the word he used.
The Ct scans only answers so much next is biopsy. To truly find out, or rule out, etc

May check to see if it could be sarcoidosis. Biopsy will tell you.

I had a VATS procedure to remove tumors in my lungs - secondary cancer site. Surgery and recovery weren't horrible and I'm glad I elected to do it. MDA is the best around.

have a lung biopsy a bout 4 years ago. They cut three holes through my back and took out pieces to test for Sarcoidosis.

What did it end up being?

Could you get a bronchoscopy with biopsy instead of a VATS? Basically the pulmonary equivalent of a colon polyp biopsy via colonoscopy instead of an open biopsy.

I had an X-ray, CT scan and like 3 different blood test over a period of about 6-8 month period... I had been having trouble with my lungs and didn't know why. I have never smoked a cigarette in my entire life, not a single drag. 33 years old and other wise health.

So finally after the CT scan that showed a bunch of inflammation they decided to go in with a camera scope deal and get a small biopsy and test it. What it seemed was that they were maybe leaning towards some type of fungus.... went in about 4 weeks after the CT scan and sort of unfortunately I had started to do better, the best I had been in 6 months... well with the biopsy they had to grow cultures or something that took about 4-6 weeks for results...

All results came back completely negative... they wanted to do another CT scan and I just canceled it and quit going.

This was last year. I kept getting progressively better and a month or two after I was back 100% and haven't had a single lung issue since.

fricking bizarre.

We didn't delve that far into other options and he really didn't offer any alternatives. But what I gathered from him is going the most invasive way will provide the best sample(s) and provide the best picture as to what it is and also how to treat it.

Will definitely inquire about that though, thanks

It definitely gives the best sample and best chance of getting a definitive diagnosis. Just a lot more invasive. If you're doing okay clinically, I would probably try the bronch bx first, and if that is nondiagnostic, move on to the VATS.

Would consider VATS lung biopsy. Could be something like BOOP or bronchiolitis obliterans with organizing pneumonia. Same as COP or cryptogenic organizing pneumonia. BOOP/COP can have migratory nodules. Sarcoid could also have similar appearance.

Did they do a CEA blood test? Its a tumor marker that can be elevated in lung cancers. I recommend asking about it at least for a baseline. Good luck.

So they found no trace of sarcoidosis?

BOOP as some have mentioned is a possibility if Bronchoscopy didn't yield much. Have they tried steroids? Did you improve for a short time?

No. Have had CBC, sedimentation rate, c reactive protein and lung function test. All which are normal

Haven't done any procedures yet. Just CT scans which which show some stationary nodules and some migratory ones.
