Yea my dad had the same radiation and he was OK. He even had a second treatment which put him over his lifetime recommended amount of radiation and though very risky it was a hail Mary and it worked for a few months.

He went through 3 different types of chemo and the chemo eventually stopped working.

What made you decide to get a CT scan?

I was diagnosed with an immune deficiency, and was recommended to see a hematologist for a baseline scan of my lymph nodes. This was two months after my bout with pneumonia. Well the lymph nodes were fine but the lungs were abnormal. And I've had three since then with my pulmonologist

ETA. So it's been a hell of a year for me. Always healthy, very active all my youth and adult life dealing with this uncertainty

I'm really not sure. Not familiar with that test.

I had titer test towards some vaccines and I know they didn't respond, if that makes sense

I have a lung biopsy a bout 4 years ago. They cut three holes through my back and took out pieces to test for Sarcoidosis. Recovery was not the worst thing I have been through but there was a good bit of pain involved. The worst part was having a hose go into my back to drain the blood out of my lungs. The goods news is that you will get some serious pain killers and will be high as a kite for days.

Thanks for the reply. Obviously, it's got to be working for somebody or they wouldn't do it. It just didn't work for my dad or the other person I knew who had it. Glad it prolonged your father's life for a while. As you know, 21 months much better than average.

Id rather get a CT guided biopsy, less invasive but that might not be an option for you.
This. Being at the base of the lungs by itself doesn't rule that out. Obviously other factors could depending on the exact location but would be worth looking into.

Tankyank:
Sorry about the thread hijack. You don't have oat cell lung cancer. Scratch it off of your list of shite to worry about.

Good luck with your biopsy. Hope it isn't too uncomfortable and you get good news from the results.

Yea. People at MD Anderson all said he was an unusual case. He was already in stage 3b when they found it.

Sorry that your dad had to fight that battle too.

Multiple nodules

In all seriousness, most nodules in the lungs and on the thyroid are benign. Good luck with the biopsy and try not to worry yourself to death. It's most likely nothing

If they thought it was cancer they would be rushing the biopsy faster to get results back and get you into treatment.
