Cbc, sed rate and c reactive protein aren't used for diagnosis unless you are anemic or have an infection or some kind od inflamation. Not specific for lung disease.
They might collect a sputum sample during biopsy to check for infection either bacterial or fungal. Keep us posted on outcome.

Thanks for all the info. I have some time to consider if and when I have the procedure. The doctor said there is no rush at the moment and at the least I will go back in three months for another lung function test

Did they do a CEA blood test?
That'd be insanely premature and not helpful.

man, that would just scare the shite out of me (like I am sure it has done you). I do know a few folks who have had lung biopsies done over the last year and none of them have really said anything terrible about the process. Just so you know, all three ended up with nothing of much concern in the results.

Just go ahead and get past that shite so the whole thing will be off your mind.

I don't think I ever had a biopsy, they just ended up cutting my lower left lobe out.

That's the plan the doc has for me as well. The location of my nodule makes the biopsy too risky.

I was going to have to have that but got second opinion and was able to do bronchoscopy. But mine was to grab mediastinal lymph nodes. I did have a lung nodule but they didn't need to biopsy it at that point. It all ended up being stage IV Hodgkin's.

Good luck with the procedure. You'll be fine. I was in remission after 2 months.

I do CT guided lung biopsy procedures all the time. Minimally invasive, minimal risk, in and out same day. Typically pathology is at bedside and we know in minutes if the cells are abnormal.
