Judge rules to suppress evidence found in Mangione's backpack when he was arrested.
What are we doing here?

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Gregory Carro said that because the backpack was not sufficiently in Mangione’s control when Altoona police were detaining him, “the evidence found during the search of the backpack at the McDonald’s must be suppressed, including the [loaded ammunition] magazine, cellphone, passport, wallet and computer chip.”

Here’s a peak at the credentialed “journalists” covering the trial

"sufficiently in control": what does that mean? the "hey, it wasn't mine" defense? just some random backpack, your honor. totally coincidental.

We have to start removing judges. I don't want to bring back hanging judges but holy frick. The cellphone that is registered in his name and has a record of his movements can't be used because his backpack was in another chair? Wtf?

These pieces of shite just keep raising the bar on how vile and disgusting they can be. Telling kids they're better off without their dad is something.
I'm sure her dad's are super proud of this fricking loser though.

Wow here's your wallet with your ID, a loaded magazine and a cellphone with your mom's phone number. Is this yours?
Nope.
Ok. Sounds good.

That ruling seems insane. The rule of law has ceased to exist in NY.

"frick him, I don't give a flying frick he died."
"I liked it!"
"His kids are better off."
Yikes. As someone currently getting fricked over by my insurance for not covering treatments, those two cunts are disgusting. And the fact that they are doing this as credentialed media personnel is even worse. I hope LM gets the fricking death penalty.
ETA: As for the OP, I am not sure what the law is but I don't see how that judge's ruling could be upheld. That seems like something that should pretty easily be able to be overturned on appeal, provided you can a) appeal it at all, and b) the appeal goes to someone who is rational and logical.

Insane? No
They should have waited to get a warrant if it was outside of his control if all they were relying on was Terry
There was NO reason to search it without a warrant

The state of New York is doing its best to free him.

Naw

Judge Gregory Carro ruled key evidence recovered during the search at the police station – including a 3D-printed gun and a so-called “manifesto” – would be allowed into Mangione’s state trial. Those items, Carro wrote in his order, were retrieved as part of a valid search according to the Altoona Police Department’s protocol.

That will be enough to convict him

They aren’t going to be able to convict him with a NYC jury no matter how much evidence is presented against him that proves he killed the CEO. This is where we are now in this country.

We've been there before. See OJ after the Rodney King fiasco.

Several black people on the OJ jury said they leaned OJ being acquitted simply to make up for Rodney King getting his arse kicked.

NY jury may not convict him even though he obviously did it. Pretty sad actually
