I can assure you a vast majority of people on LSU's campus doesn't give a frick how they describe someone in an emergency alert. Hell I think they use that emergency system too much.
Sure if there is a shooter on campus or a bomb threat let me know.
But just because some a-hole decided to rob someone within 3 blocks of the north Gates doesn't mean I should get an alert bulletin about it. It makes the campus look much more dangerous than it really is.

The reporter set the department up for failure. All they want to do is find something to make LSUPD look bad so they can harness the students in so they can actually have viewers.

You really don't think that is important to notify students about? Do you like it when people file lawsuits? Not everyone lives on campus and most probably live about that exact distance from campus. Didn't someone get temporarily kidnapped recently?
It's just a simple text alert system. Better to be safe than sorry. The college I went to had them all the time and this was a college far more notable academically than LSU. It makes the university look like they care about safety more than anything.

She's not implying that the people making the alerts are assuming. She's saying that when she gets an alert she assumes that it will involve a black male suspect.

The few times I have called the police I have refused to report race.
