Gardere was the hood back in the early 90's. I remember when they closed the piggly wiggly on Burbank. Store manager told us when we were there picking up product when they closed that it was just not worth it to keep the store open. They were paying ebr sheriffs overtime from open to close and were still getting robbed blind by shoplifting, not to mention the slip and fall lawsuits a couple times a month

Lived there too. El Cid was actually one of my favorite places. Convenient, price was good, and apartments weren't any worse that place du plantier.
