I see that now. My B. I purposely didn’t add comments. I had a feeling what the responses would be.
No one should have a problem with this. When I comes to therapy, feeling comfortable with the person you are opening up to is key. If that sense of comfort comes from presumed shared experiences, that’s actually pretty typical.

Why would anyone think this is bad or make fun of it? If mentally unstable people feel more comfortable seeking help from people that they feel they can better relate to, then I consider that a good thing.
We love to bring up that we have a mental health problem, but now some are going to mock someone trying to help?
WTF?
I'm assuming some are trolling but I guess you never know with the OT.

Lambert says the 24-hour hotline will launch Aug. 1 and will be free and open to the public. She hopes it will serve as a chance to break negative stigmas rooted in Black communities about getting professional mental help.
Sounds like someone using her skills to make a positive difference.

What if you’re quadroon?
Can you still get assistance?

All you have to so is sprinkle some motherfrickers into the conversation and you are gold.

This, 100%. Kudos to the young lady for trying to do some good.

I like to think most of the OT can see this as a positive. You will always have a few trolls, and a few mouth breathers who just can’t help themselves. But I think (hope) they are the exception.
Posting the same thread on the poliboard might make for an interesting social experiment though.

It's a horrible thing if you believe the only people that can help you are the ones with the same skin color it's disgusting and backwards. This just affirms the segregationist mindset.

Just a little.

What skin color are you? I need to know before I respond to this statement. Need to know if its possible for us to understand each other.

So you're a eugenicist, right? That only whites should deal with whites, black with black, etc.? Where do we draw the line?
All black people have the same experience?

I havent been feeling well lately, and maybe they are genuinely wanting to help people

quote:Should is not what I’m saying or condoning. I’m simply pointing out that, given the freedom to choose, people are more likely to choose a therapist who looks like them. Same ethnicity, race, sex, etc. I’m simply pointing out a fact. When you call a hotline number, these people are more likely to call knowing that the person on the other end is like them. This is about getting help to more people. Not about forcing blacks to talk to blacks. It’s an option.

I mean.
It’s dumb, very much racist, and will be a giant waste of tax payer money, but it’s kind of brilliant. In this woke world, if you are black you could legitimately start any non profit with “Black” in the tile and you’ll likely either get it funded by local city council councils, corporations looking to avoid bad press, or Hollywood morons looking to virtue signal by pimping your brand.
I mean. Colin Kapearnick is a fricking loser and just got a huge contract with Disney....along with Jemelle Hill. There’s money in wokeness right now because there are a lot of morons out there.

BMHH: "What's the greatest Prince album?"
Caller: "Purple Rain"

I don’t think tax dollars are paying for this. She’s asking for volunteers.
