Daily Reveille article

Wow. If you use the app GroupMe for group chat with classmates, you could be considered cheating, even if you aren't doing anything like sharing exam answers.

If you can't stay off a chat app for long enough to take a test, maybe you shouldn't be in college.

You know how I cheated back in the day? Me and two friends paid a statistician $800 to take our final. Not this low level BS.

Get on our level.

Already graduated and I didn’t need this because while I loved poli sci, it was easy. Only hard classes was the science requirements for biology. OCS 1005 was ez pz though.

They weren’t even using it for an exam.

Back in my day you had to have a friend with the same professor who took the test before you and have them remember what questions were on it. It was a bit of a pain in the arse but it built face to face friendships which are a dying breed.

My cousin got in trouble for this 2 or 3 years ago. He didn't give an answer, he explained the steps for a math problem and told where in the book to find it at. Somebody else in the group me shared an answer and everybody in the group got in trouble.

This chick is full of shite. She contradicts herself in her own statements at least twice. She says there wasn't any cheating, then says some people were discussing cheating but she wasn't one of them. Then she concludes by saying she did talk about cheating but it was a joke.

quote:

Pisanie said a few students discussed cheating in the chat, but many more students, including Pisanie, chimed in to condemn the potential cheaters, with a warning that LSU takes cheating in group chats very seriously and everyone in the group could be at risk. One by one, students began to leave the group.

“I left,” Pisanie said. “Then everyone else left, so it was never used for cheating ever. And then we still all got called in.”

SAA held a meeting with Pisanie and many of her classmates on March 8. Pisanie said many of her classmates that had spoken in the chat on the day of the alleged incident, including those that either did not contribute to the cheating or condemned it, were present. She said one classmate in particular did nothing but ask for a Scantron.

“We had a big group meeting, and there were a bunch of kids, like the kid who asked about the Scantron,” Pisanie said. “He was like, ‘Why am I in here?’ And [the SAA representative] kept skirting around the question. [They] would not directly tell him why he was in there or what he personally was being accused of.”

Pisanie said these accusations brought her great mental anguish. She found it difficult to concentrate and study, and she said her grades were affected negatively.

Pisanie emphasized that she in no way condones cheating, whether via GroupMe or using other methods.

“If we were actually cheating, [punish us] for it, whatever,” Pisanie said. “But nobody cheated. They’re saying that they wanna get us for collusion, which is talking about it, or attempting to cheat.”

Pisanie conceded that she had joked about cheating earlier in the group, but emphasized that it was clearly a joke and was in no way connected to this incident.

I represented several members of my fraternity at South Carolina in student conduct hearings a few years ago. You get a fairer shake in Stalin’s show trials, and that isn’t hyperbole. These Student Affairs people are absolutely hideous cretins whose decisions on guilt or innocence are based more on the charged person’s status on the victim hierarchy than anything else.

I can side with her on this. This has nothing to do with growing up.

I was accused of cheating in a class my soph year. Got called on a Sunday while I was at a concert from my lab group saying we are being accused of cheating and have a meeting with the faculty that week. That week im facing possible penalties ranging from expulsion to at minimum an F or incomplete in the class if I was found guilty.

That can do a number on your mind when youre going to be applying to professional programs soon after
