LSU "Giving Day" shattered fundraising expectations -$2.1 Million raised for University

The article below is actually incorrect - LSU raised $2.1 million in donations from alumni in a 24 hour period. The higher numbers came in late in the evening on that day.

Despite a high-profile sexual misconduct scandal, LSU raised more than $1.6 million Wednesday during its third annual Giving Day, making history as the most money the university has received in 24 hours through crowdfunding.
Overall, 2,838 people donated to Wednesday’s fundraising campaign—more than one-and-a-half times the 1,860 donors LSU aimed to attract over the 24-hour period—and nearly 600 people posted the #LSUGivingDay hashtag on social media. All of which seems to indicate support remains relatively strong for the university, which has recently been under fire over its handling of sexual misconduct allegations.

Indeed, Wednesday’s figures were nearly double the $845,000 LSU raised during its 2019 Giving Day, and also surpassed the roughly $1 million the university collected in 2020.

F King and Alleva were told to frick off.
Then Woodward came in.
Honestly LSU deserves the additional support. They got rid of that cancer and brought in some good talent. Now if they can get a decent University President in place that can help the school with fundraising, that would be a huge win for the state and the University.

I donated, specifically to LSU's Business school.
But I also voiced my displeasure with their more overt political stances. And I know that a lot of others were bringing that up with the LSU Foundation team.

What a waste of a donation by those 2,838 people.

A sucker is born every minute. There's 1440 minutes in a day so in the case of fools giving to LSU, there's roughly two suckers born every minute.
And 600 of them with a bad case of lookatmeitis, a rampant virtue signaling disease.

Why would anyone donate a dollar to a public university squandering millions on worthless programs?

They don’t care about your opinion once the funds transfer.
Donating to a public university that wastes money left and right on completely useless things is counterproductive.

They have a lot of waste, but I think they are cleaning house in the right way. And I was able to specify a specific program that I'm familiar with when I donated. I disagree that it's counterproductive.

They called me and asked for money. I told the girl I have LSU every nickel I had for 6 years. She goes "sooooooooooooooo, can I sign you up for $100?"

What is the money earmarked for?

I don't get some of you. On an LSU message board, discussing LSU athletics, but mad when people donate to LSU.

The endowment fund.

LSU far exceeded fundraising expectations in both the amount raised and the number of people who donated. So the people bitching about the fundraiser probably were the types that don't really donate anyways.

Not all of The Rant. Just the loud and obnoxious ones.

That's a fair criticism IMO. And it's upsetting people that actually give to the school. Not just The Rant.
