Never underestimate the depths to which a junkie will go to get their fix.

This guy didn't die, but I didn't look hard either. I remember a couple stories about it, although it may be carfentanyl (sp?).

10 kilos

To put this into perspective, that's nearly 1/4 the weight of a baby calf.

Reminded me of the movie, "Honey I Shrunk the Kids!"

The actual weight of 10 kilos is only 22 pounds. From the linked article.

quote:

The SUV then was taken to Louisiana State Police Troop G headquarters in Bossier City, where a more thorough search turned up 10 plastic bags.

Each contained 1 kilogram, or 2.2 pounds, of fentanyl.

That trooper must have been freaking out on the inside when he discovered that. One - because it was such a huge bust and two - how dangerous that stuff is to even touch.
And three, there were probably actually 15 kilos seized so he'll have a pay day coming too.

I've heard that heroin dealers will sometimes lace someones bag with it to make them OD, and the others will hear of the OD and think that the dealer has the good shite and go buy from them.

Fentanyl is one of the absolute worst drugs out there right how.

It's actually a very useful drug when used properly, just like most every tool. Fentanyl is normally used in one of two settings: 1. the surgical suite by highly trained personnel just prior to starting the actual anesthetic. 2. patients w/ chronic pain (usually malignancy) unresponsive to lesser narcotics. In this situation a patch containing 3 days of medicine is applied to the skin and left in place for 3 days.

Fentanyl becomes dangerous when used in illicit drugs because it's extreme potency makes "dosing" it potentially dangerous. It's meant to be used by trained professionals, not recreational drug users or addicts.

The risk of absorption from contact is scary with Fentanyl.

You don't have to worry about possibly dying from cutaneous fentanyl exposure if a cop/fire fighter friend of yours comes into contact w/ an unknown white powder in the field. The original story about the cop who became ill after exposure to an unknown white power has been debunked.

What's funny is they quote these numbers about it being so deadly.. but that's for people without tolerance. Dope heads can smoke the stuff and they are usually fine. Many years ago I use to obtain fentanyl in liquid form from patches and smoke it. I was so damn tolerant to opiates that it was just a usual dose for me.

As someone who hasn't touched the stuff in 5 years I really don't give a crap if abusers od on it. Its innocent people that have zero tolerance that are really in danger.

What they found isn't even remotely close to being pure fentanyl. Even medical grade stuff isn't pure. Its suspended in liquid or some sort of binder that makes up 95%+ of the weight. To make pure fent you are talking about some sort of Heisenberg fictional hollywood crap.

And these are usually the dope heads that will die. It doesn't take much to kill anyone. Someone can OD on it if enough of it gets on their skin. It's nothing to frick around with.

When you that there are so many ODs within a certain area, that means the product is either as pure as you can get or it is being cut with too much fentanyl. And that actually brings in more business for the dealers in the area because all the addicts go that way looking for "the good shite".

It’s used safely in hospitals every day. It has a quick onset and wears off relatively quickly. It’s good to use for procedures.

Fentanyl or one of its derivatives is thought to be what the Russians sprayed into the theater in 2002 when some Chechens had taken the place and everyone in it. It killed about 20% of everyone in the building. This post was edited on 5/11 at 11:20 am

I remember them gassing the theatre (it was some kind of theatre or auditorium, wasn't it?) and then popping about 30 "Black Widows" wearing bomb vests in the forehead. The Russians don't frick around. Didn't realize that many hostages died.

How is Fentanyl made, where is it made and what is it primarily used for?

How can some get their hands on 10 kilos?

It's used in surgical procedures and I believe it's a synthetic. I guess a Walter White type criminal with the proper lab equipment and raw materials could make it.
