Reputation for great academics but it is a boarding school so consider that. Also I believe it starts in 10th grade but double check that.

It's a good school, especially for liberal arts students, but also a breeding ground for far left homosexuality indoctrination

It's pretty good for the 99th percentile kids from rural areas whose local school district just doesn't have the resources to give them what they need. If you're from a bigger metro area you can get most of the same academic benefits from a magnet school. Of course there's the boarding aspect which is a whole different issue. Some kids thrive, others go off the rails.

That would be unfortunate.

Incredibly smart, charming, and fun to be around? Yeah, the horror.

Everyone I know who attended that school absolutely hated it and has serious mental health issues and trauma from attending it. The majority of those kids developed a pill addiction to study drugs. The place is a pressure cooker, and the students come out academically brilliant but socially stunted or just completely f&%king broken.

I don't disagree with this, and didn't send my next two based on my oldest...shes not addicted to anything, but the mental stress had taken a toll

It's inundated with crazy libs. It's not worth sending your kid there if u want avoid that.

Yep, our neighbor (a M.D.) sent his daughter for one semester. When she returned for Thanksgiving she was damn near a communist. He didn't let her go back to finish the rest of the semester

IMO, those kids remind me of The Big Bang Theory sitcom. Insanely smart and can function amongst themselves. Put them in the real world and they become disoriented.

My sister went there (in its early days).

She's essentially "female Sheldon Cooper", all the way down to the job.

She got the brains, I got the looks and personality.

She's been to some great schools, here and abroad since leaving there. Got degrees, PhDs, etc.

I went to state schools.

We make roughly the same money (I think)

LSMSA-good school?

OP, all I can tell you is that you’ll get very strong opinions from people who didnt go there and know that one weird kid from their class who did.

There are limited athletic opportunities. I believe they have the only HS rowing temin the state. In theory LSMSA kids interested in other sports can play for Natchitoches Central or St Mary's. IDK if any do.

They are there to play school, not sports

Wow that has not been our experience at all since pediatric neurosurgery and high level executive jobs can be pressure cookers also.

We also noticed that a lot of kids go there and "come out" while not at home same as kids who come out during college while living on campus away from home.

the only accurate statement you’ve made. You go there to compete. If you cant keep up, you get sent home.

One of my friends from high school went there for her last two years. She was smart and very sociable.

If you want to send your child there, make sure you and your child know what it entails and see if your child wants to go.

I know a mother who cannot wait until she can send her child there. The child does not want to go and I hope it all works out for the best.
