You will be crying when fuel prices are higher than they were last year because all of the non-OPEC exploration/production that was stopped just so you could get gas cheap for a couple of months.

Hopefully by then we'll have Mr. Fusion so we can run our cars on garbage

Mr. Fusion only ever powered the Flux Capacitor. The Delorean still ran on an internal combustion engine.

So those companies should take a loss for America and not slowdown/shutdown production is what you are saying

It's too bad the real world doesn't work like that..

OPEC has enough oil to bury the world's non-OPEC production if they choose to do so.

I bet you bitch when the job market is shite, about American jobs shipped over seas, and about the US not being energy independent.

81% of the world's oil reserves are controlled by OPEC. Hard to find sympathy for workers in a price controlled market.

So are all these O&G workers that will lose their jobs bc of low gas prices only working because of the inflated prices the last few years?

..and what people don't realize is that the increase in oil (per barrel) had a domino effect across the entire industry: equipment, labor, etc all increased as oil prices rose.

Those cost increases won't drop, at least in the near-term, which will cripple non-OPEC production, and force mass layoffs across the board.

What will happen when OPEC decides the world has had enough? Record high fuel prices.

Job markets and industries change. If people can't diversify and adapt, they will get left behind

Saved money doesn't disappear into thin air. If they aren't spending a certain amount of money on gas, they will probably spend that difference on some other service/product/entertainment/consumption item and those industries will grow.

Saying we should think about jobs when we think about the price of goods and services just invokes artificial job creation and planned obsolescence. Yuck.

The ones bitching on social media are the stay-at-home housewives driving $50K SUV's while their husband is gone half the time.

One income family driving $50K vehicles living in double wide trailers.

I laugh every time I see their posts!

The months of low fuel prices will be eclipsed by high fuel prices that come about from OPEC making that call.

And when the higher prices return, E&P will pick up again to drive the prices back down. Let the market decide. People here are essentially bitching that SA is no longer artificially inflating the price of oil.

Oil and gas profit margin is actually middle of the pack when compared to other industries.
