Americans getting cheaper gas is wayyyy more important than a couple disposable oilfield jobs

The flooding of the market with outside oil has a lot of people in the O&G getting nervous not just roughnecks.

cheap energy benefits on the whole, but places like Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska will feel it more than most other places in the states.

Agreed. A handful of people losing their jobs has much less impact on the economy than lower gas prices throughout the entire country.

The people yelling:

"People should be paying more for gas so I can still get a paycheck!"

tend to be the same people yelling:

"Hell no people shouldn't get my hard-earned money to subsidize their income!"

And yet they fail to see the contradiction in their statements.

I'd argue that cheaper gas over an extended time would increase jobs in other sectors.

I will say these prices have me happy that I passed on a job in oil and took a job in transportation when I graduated 3 years ago.
