i'm pretty sure SASOL's were on a fast track and it still took a long arse time. i think this is the largest private investment in US History. it's going to take some time simply due to the largess of the project

What about 2 years ago when oil was over $100 a barrel and Oil companies were bragging about billions in profits and we had to pay almost $4 a gallon for gas... what happened to all that money...?

. So, everyone wins with a price plummet except for some energy companies & their shareholders, and the workers they jettison .
Another industry that probably loses at low oil and gas prices is alternative forms of energy. Suddenly people aren't that interested in that expensive hybrid when gas is less than $2/ gallon.

Not really. Prices will inevitably go up and there is still a need for energy independence.

It's a good point, as long as the low prices are sustained for more than several months
Still it's a tiny minority that loses out here

Prices likely will, but won't necessarily, go up again. But you're kidding yourself if you think gasoline prices don't affect whether people buy electric vehicles or not.

Someone was telling me yesterday that one of the other proposed LNG deals here is now on very shaky ground because of this. Not sure how accurate that is.
Here is one for sure LINK

The floating 8 million tonne per annum (mtpa) export plant moored at Lavaca Bay, Texas advanced by Houston-based Excelerate has been put on hold, according to regulatory filings obtained by Reuters.

Excelerate's move bodes ill for thirteen other U.S. LNG projects, which have also not signed up enough international buyers, to reach a final investment decision (FID). Only Cheniere's Sabine Pass and Sempra's Cameron LNG projects have hit that milestone.

Yeah, in the big picture it's a small percentage who lose and a large percentage who gain.

I would've agreed with that 10 years ago but not today.

As someone who used to work out there, I can say unequivocally that the fat needs to be trimmed in the O&G world.
So many people "working" and collecting shite tons for nothing

Dont worry guys, mother nature is here to help raise the gas prices......oil prices should start going back up before to long, as well as gas prices just in time for summer prices will be back at 3.50-4.00 a gallon by July

You are right. Our company re-refines used oil into base oil. Right now base oil is selling extremely low due to low crude prices because its just as cheap to get base oil from new crude oil compared to base oil from the re-refined used oil.

You sound very confident, more confident than any CEO or Wall Street broker. Do you actually have a basis for your statement or are you just blowing hot air?

it's a cycle my man.....we've been riding the wave since the 40's
40's-60' claiming ground..setting precedents
1969-1980 War and rising energy prices
1981-1985 The Collapse
1986-1990 The Recovery
1991-2000 Steady but declining again
2000-2014 More ups and downs...Wars,Oils spill, natural disasters, hurricanes, etc

It's kinda hard to feel bad for O&G guys when a lot of industries have been getting the cut...
I mean take a look at the coal industry. Those frickers got raped by fracking and natural gas. Coal plants of 100s of people replaced by a skeleton crew at a CC plant.
