Long drop is also instant and (almost) painless.
If the hangman's weight/height/free drop calculations are incorrect, sometimes it causes the head to separate from the body. But I'm ok with that

There was something I read about a shortage a while back, so that probably plays a large part. The numbers are just wild for how much it can cost to kill one person with lethal injection. I've read it goes up to tens of thousands of dollars in some cases.

I don't understand why they don't just knock them out like why you get a colonoscopy, then they could do whatever they want to them.

15 minutes or for 5 minutes

Won't even have to wait nearly that long for 100% nitrogen.

After hearing about this guy for several days, I finally looked up the crime for which he is to be executed. It was notorious at the time, and, honestly, he deserves to suffer for it. He’s already had many more years of life than he granted his victim. The sooner this dirtbag is expunged from the planet, the better.

quote:

On November 26, 1996, Jessie Hoffman Jr., who was two months past his 18th birthday, kidnapped, raped and murdered a woman in Louisiana.[1]
On that day itself, 28-year-old advertising executive Mary "Molly" Elliott had just left work and was on her way to retrieve her car at the Sheraton parking garage in downtown New Orleans, where she regularly parked her car for work. At the garage itself, Elliott encountered Hoffman, who was working as a valet at the garage, and the latter kidnapped the woman at gunpoint in her own car.[2][3]
Hoffman forced Elliott to drive to a nearby ATM and withdraw some money. After receiving $200, Hoffman asked Elliott to drive them to a remote area in St. Tammany Parish. After arriving there, Hoffman raped Elliott at gunpoint and made her march to a dirt patch. At the patch itself, Elliott was forced to kneel on a makeshift dock near the Middle Pearl River and Hoffman shot her in the head in an execution-style manner. After killing Elliott, Hoffman left her naked body behind and he disposed of her belongings and the murder weapon.[2][3]
The body of Elliott was not found until two days later, on November 28, 1996, Thanksgiving Day. A duck hunter discovered Elliott's corpse and reported the finding to the police. Elliott's husband, who reported his wife missing after she failed to meet him for dinner, identified her later that day. The police also received a report from a couple who found Elliott's clothes and belongings at a vacant lot. Among the objects were three ATM receipts, which were traced back to the same ATM where Elliott withdrew money for Hoffman. The police managed to identify and arrest Hoffman, based on the description of an African-American gunman captured together with Elliott on the photographs taken from the ATM. Hoffman initially denied his involvement in the murder, but he later admitted to the crime.[3]

I can’t find any photos of his victim, but my memory of her from reporting at the time is that she was a lovely, slender, fair-skinned woman with red hair. Her husband, and the children they never had, deserve justice. Execute this animal already!

My cousin's first husband was inspecting a pressure vessel that was supposed to be purged of argon but wasn't. He was unconscious in about 15 seconds and gone in less than a minute. His harness snagged on something and they couldn't pull him out. Nobody was wearing breathing apparatus and the guy who went in to try to rescue him damn near died himself.

My cousin got a seven figure settlement out of it. Then she remarried a guy who unbeknownst to her was bipolar. He spent most of it during a manic episode.

South Carolina executed that guy the other day by firing squad and the whole thing was over in like 3 minutes. And that included coming out and checking vitals, etc. He was probably dead instantly with a direct shot to the heart.

No need to overcomplicate this.
