Anything targeting Baton Rouge is by default a nothingburger. The only time I’ve ever seen real severe weather here was in April 2015

Well I’ll say this, the drought in Erwinville is over. 2-1/4” of rain in about 50 minutes this afternoon
At least that’s what was in my super precise Home Depot rain gauge I have nailed to a fence post.

Gustav, Andrew, and the tornado outbreak a couple of years ago were pretty rough. There was a lot of footage of a tornado on Sherwood a while back. Maybe 2017?

I was in downtown baton rouge when the tornado came off the river.

It was scary as shite, but so was the torrential rain that didn't let up for a few days in August of 2016.

And a few other hundred times I can think of.

No joke and so quick after the sfc low formed up.

Helps that it started on a pretty solid existing cold front.

ETA: Maybe the JTWC won't be 18 hours behind on actual intensity anymore.

Cold front catches up to the warm front.

These low pressure systems feed on the temperature gradient between the cold air and warm air and when the front occludes it is the beginning of the weakening phase as the warm air is cut off.

Its not super common this close to the gulf because the warm front typically has more heft to it and the cold fronts are a little slower.
