Yet, when I tried to use it as ID to buy beer at Whole Foods a few weeks ago, the clerk said they don't take it.

My pharmacy won't take it because their fonky scanner can't read the barcode if I need it to get a certain class of meds.

I haven't had to present it to the St Gabriel traffic cop (that's where I get all my violations) yet.

Other than that, it's been good.

Are the businesses mandated to take the LA Wallet set up to validate what’s on the screen is actually official and coming from the official LA Wallet? Is it using an existing process that most of them have already for payments or are they forcing businesses to add a service to do this?

Surely they aren’t just supposed to only look at the screen without a scan or use near field communication to validate the ID.

You can validate LA wallet with any other phone. It doesn't cost the businesses anything. However, most businesses just click and hold license and it brings up the seal so they know its not a picture and is the actual license.

This is great news. Please let TSA at MSY know. I flew out of New Orleans back in late June and they told me they didn’t accept it. I had to dig my drivers license out of my wallet.

**UPDATE**

Chase does not accept LA Wallet either.

One of my brothers I Louisiana showed me his app and its contents. Loved having all of that info in an app.

Here in Alabama, it is not something offered by the state. Grrrrrrr

It's one of the few things LA was very much ahead of the curve on. Downside to that is most businesses outside of LA don't accept it because they don't have such a thing in their state.

Funny enough, Covid is a huge reason it is so widely accepted. I remember most bars and restaurants refused to accept it when it initially came out, but then Covid happened and that's where everyone's "vaccine card" was stored.

As far as I am aware, Louisiana is out in front on this. This is one of the more innovative things the state has led the way on.

They let me renew my license on there too.

So happy I no longer have to go deal with democrat women working at the omv.

Just makes life a bit easier.

Did you have to pay a lot extra using the app?

I can’t remember if it was renewing DL or renewing car registration, but there was a thread a while back that mentioned a fairly large increase in price to do at least one of these in the app versus just doing renewal online using a web browser (or actually doing it in person).

It seemed to be going to the app developer which didn’t charge Louisiana up front for app development or something like that.

The ID thing for us people obviously born in a year that starts with 19 pisses me off. It's such a hassle. I don't like to carry anything on me but my phone.

They don’t take it to pick up medication, to open bank accounts.
