Scare tactic by the Governor. Just like LSU was never not going to play football because taxes weren't raised. And just like the "fiscal cliff," which keeps getting smaller without raising taxes.

The state will not evict old people.

1). Piss Poor Business Climate

2) arse Loads of Government Dependency

3) Antiquated Constitution that desperately needs amending to include cuts to non discretionary spending... 2/3rds of the state budget that is completely off limits, which makes cutting education, public safety and corrections, and health services the only things that can be cut.

ALL contributing factors to why this state remains a po dunk broke dick state that people want to leave and never return. I GET IT!!!! And when you consider how many people this state has to incarcerate due to such a criminal element that infests the state, it’s only exacerbated.

Yea, I'm sure that was the only thing in that legislation.

This has been so misreported as to be basically the repetition of a lie. DHH does not evict people from nursing homes. Nursing homes are privately owned and only the owner of the facility can "evict." The actual term is "involuntarily discharge."

In order to involuntarily discharge a nursing home resident for non-payment of fees the facility has to give 30-day notice. That 30-day notice has to be mailed to the state Long-term Care Ombudsman. The LTC Ombudsman then sends the notice to a non-profit law firm in New Orleans called Advocacy Center. Advocacy Center files an appeal with DHH and then DHH automatically stays the discharge until the appeal is heard.

The appeal hearing is held and an administrative law judge invalidates the discharge and the nursing home is stuck with the resident, even though the applicable regulations allow the discharge in that circumstance.

So, TLDR, DHH notifies residents that their bills won't get paid and then prevents nursing homes from evicting the residents for not paying and then the nursing home provides free care at risk of losing their license.

As far as DHH is concerned, this solves the problem.

The Advocate has done several pretty well researched stories on how much money Louisiana wastes on nursing homes. The nursing home lobby is strong, former and current legislators. Anytime there is an attempt to get some policy to direct state funds to cheaper home health the nursing home cabal kills it.

I thought this was funny/interesting. I bought a 16 year old 3/4 ton truck for $1000. Apparently Louisiana has a new law requiring an extra fee for vehicles over a certain gvrw. So after paying that fee and everything else to get this old truck titled it cost me $328!!!

It's a shame TD doesn't have a board where people can discuss politics.

Yes it is. There are no discussions on the Poli Board. It is nothing but an alt right echo chamber, gathering every Russian bot and Klansman in the southern U.S. in one putrid place. I mean it's entertaining sometimes, but . . .

Keep pushing that narrative. It worked sooooo well for you in the last election. Did you guys ever consider that perhaps the tax payers in this country were tired of being buttfricked by the status-quo politicians that promote sending money to demographic groups that refuse to evolve and assimilate into society and perpetuate a victim mentality therefore never taking accountability for their culture? The people of the south, Midwest, and even some New England states elected something different because he represented something other than the corrupt, murdering bitch you had to rig your own primary to nominate.
