this. someone from down there worked with my dad, I went to pick up shrimp from him and thought I was going to die.
the billiots, dardars and fitch's from down there fight with each other in the afternoons after school just for fun
that's why they all cage fight too

Damn, that looks like a fricked up place to live.

What's crazy is I've met a lot of stand up people from down there. Like couldn't even tell they were from down the bayou much less the "downest of all bayous". When they tell me where they are from my jaw drops. Even some of the "down the bayou" people are real good folks (some cage fighters included
). But that's a minority for sure. Sad that they are losing land they live on. But equally sad how terrible they treat it (trash in the bayou, etc.).

I'm from down the bayou and even that is too far down the bayou for me.
shite, even my friends from dulac and dularge think that's too far down.
the guy that worked with my dad jokingly said he had to bring rocks and oyster shells with him on his first hitch to put in his shoes so he could be more comfortable

I wouldn't visit, without a local guide.

I'd go down PAC before I'd go down Dulac alone. I fish out of the PAC marina (or used to before moving)regularly.

Maybe I'm just more familiar with the Bayou Terrebonne/ Bayou Little Calliou side, but Dulac people scare me. Down there, they "Du-Lac" they want and don't care about the laws. Furthest I'd ever go regularly was to launch behind the Ashland jail.

Fact. Shrimpers Row is afraid of the island.
When I was a kid my dad owned a service station in Houma. He had a Billiot that worked for him. I think his name was Chuck. He was from Dulac. One morning my dad showed up and found Chuck hiding in an empty oil drum. The guy had gotten a Dutu girl from the island pregnant. The girl's dad said that any part of Chuck that had touched her was going in a crab trap. He meant it.

Good thing for a while was that if it was windy, or had rained (which was pretty much always), those frickers couldn't even get off the island because the road flooded. Then we spent all that money building up the road for them to get a 52MM payday and move

The baddest dudes from the IRP were the Hendons...... Nobody messed with them.
I freely go down any of the bayous. Being polite, not crossing anybody and having a firm handshake go a long way.

Those must be some rough and hard-up folks down that way. Ain't shite Cajun Justice could do with those folks.

I've launched at Isle De Jean Charles marina many times and never once felt scared to be on that island. In fact, Theo who operates the marina is a good ol boy and has always been nice as can be to me. I've sat on his top deck and drank a few beers with him after fishing.

I knew a pretty cute girl that was a Hendon. she always asked me to go visit but her brothers intimidated the frick out of me so I stayed home

I love visiting that area of Louisiana, to be honest. It's a different world, but the people have always been really nice to me. Shake their hands, be genuine, be polite...I've never had a problem.
I think the area is pretty cool and actually quite beautiful.

You just got to spend some time and it's bound to find you. I remember my first time in a bar in Houma. Guy from Dulac pushed a girl for some reason. Another guy there told him something about it and in an instant, all the guys from Dulac were fighting everyone and they had to close the bar. It's very similar to Grand Isle. Great times there. But I (completely non-confrontational and never been in fights) have come close to incidents multiple times at Arties.

Global Warming. Love how the United States Army Corps of Engineers and their irrational levees only policy is never blamed.
