Fair enough. The people immediately knew I wasn't from there. Told me where to eat, poured me coffee, chatted with me. I loved my experience there. I've heard the area is rough, but I guess I just come across as nonthreatening.

Yeah, definitely. I'm exaggerating somewhat. You aren't going to get shot for driving down the wrong street. You just can't assume everything is normal. If there's a conflict, don't stand up for yourself. It's not worth it. No matter how right you are.

Now they can all be cool like the Oil Trash and buy F350's, Truck Nuts, and Yeti Cooler and Tumblers.

Gotta put a trigger warning on posts containing that phrase around here. Snowflakes around here may need to go into a safe thread instead.

I was a blue collar worker in Houma for quite some time. Worked with people from Dulac, Montegut, Island Road, Chauvin, Dularge...... 99% of them were truly super nice guys. Been to their houses, drank beer with them, fished with them, trawled for shrimp with them, never had a problem. Good people in my book, but I don't think they deserve $52,000,000 for the Island Road. They actually cool to hang out with, you never have to worry about getting beat up.

How do you get to Isle de Jean Charles? Looks like you go down 665 and take a right. Looks like a hell of a drive.

It's waaaay past time we get some restitution for our land. ..... I suppose it's our fault though. That's what happens when you don't protect your borders.

Be nice if we could bribe other segments of the population to relocate as well...outside of this country.

And we are assuming it's climate change and not flood control systems redirecting the flow of silt away from the marsh as it erodes away.
