Posted on Wednesday 2/10/2021: *** AN ICE STORM WILL IMPACT THE MID-MISSISSIPPI VALLEY & THE OHIO/TENNESSEE VALLEYS FROM TODAY (WEDNESDAY) THROUGH THURSDAY & FRIDAY ***
A significant winter storm is likely to produce significant ice accumulations from parts of the middle Mississippi Valley to the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys starting today (Wednesday) and continuing through Thursday and Friday.
The areas that are likely to see significant ice accumulations of one half (0.50”) of an inch or more of accumulation extends from the Ozarks to the I-64 corridor in eastern Kentucky. This significant ice accumulation will lead to extremely hazardous travel conditions, power outages and tree damage.
Once the ice storm exits later Friday, it will be replaced by a blast of Arctic air that will move in on Friday and remain in place through this weekend. Residents that experience ice storm conditions are also expected to be impacted by bitter cold temperatures and extremely cold wind chill temperatures.
If that wasn’t enough, I continue to closely watch the potential for wintry weather across the Deep South for early next week. The plunge of Arctic air is likely to set up a boundary across the Gulf of Mexico leading to the potential for a low pressure system to develop over the northern Gulf of Mexico early next week. The combination of the moisture and energy of this storm system bumping up against the Arctic air could lead to freezing rain and sleet problems as far south as southeast Texas, central Louisiana, central Mississippi and central Alabama for Monday. Accumulating snow could be an issue across eastern and northeast Texas and across much of Arkansas, northern Louisiana and a large part of Tennessee on Monday. In fact, parts of eastern Texas, northern Louisiana, Arkansas and western Tennessee could see several rounds of ice and snow next week.

find it hilarious that NWS and other forecasters refuse to believe it and stick with the warmest model they
You can add KLFY Channel 10 Meterologist to that list as well. They had the lowest temperature at 30 on Tuesday morning

I find it frustrating but let us not forget that we are the assholes following models on a message board and they are the professionals. If this becomes more and more likely, they’ll adjust their forecasts. Hell, the NWS has already started to adjust theirs.

It's 59 degrees out right now. Mind boggling that it's supposed to change so drastically.

We’re gonna get to 1,000 posts in a thread about a potential historic winter weather event in south Louisiana before the event even starts. Who would’ve ever thought that?

cause it keeps getting pushed back

It’s been pushed back once since this all started showing up in the models. Right now literally every single major model agrees on both approximate timeframe and type/severity of the event except the EURO. For now. We will see soon of the EURO stands its ground or if it starts to cave.

It just finished.
It has the moisture coming in before the cold Monday.

Looks like I’ll have to put the doors back on my 4Runner.

Woke up to an ice storm warning here in Little Rock. Not sure what levels of icing we will actually see but I’m gonna be mad if we work on these cute valentines for my kid’s parties and then school gets cancelled tomorrow and Friday. Not sure how the handle icing situations and school cancellations here.

I'd be more worried about being without power for a week during arctic temperatures than some valentines day cards, but that's just me.
We are right on the line here in Nashville for tonight's ice system. A jog 20 miles south puts us in bad spot. I'm hoping for once that or lower elevation benefits us compared to our NW suburbs.

Why does my weather app keep upping the temps on my phone when models keep showing it to be colder? Doesn’t have the lows getting lower than 20 and only Sunday stays below freezing all day for the Ms delta.
All models seem to agree on it being much colder except the euro you’d think they’d lean more that way rather than the one outlier

I can’t watch that right now since my sleeping wife is next to me. She’s a different person when awoken unexpectedly, such as with a hand creeping into her panties. Don’t ask me how I know.

My gf overslept and I woke her cause she likes to shower before me and I didn’t want to be late for work now she is pissy.
Can’t wait to move in our new house in June with 3 bathrooms instead of 1. Gotta wait for renters contract to expire

I’d imagine they run heavily off the euro which shows the warmer temps.
