We've topped out at just over 3". Now, it is transitioning to sleet and rain. With any luck, we will skip right past the freezing rain.

They damn sure earn their keep during times like these. I may be unreasonable and gripe about them not being fast enough at times, but that is usually frustration talking.

I worry like hell for my brother. He’s exhausted and worn out but never utters a complaint. You can just see it and hear it in his voice.

He's had a hell of a past six months, that's for sure.

Those two hurricanes through here in the fall took out all the bad trees and saved us from mega power outages today. We got half an inch of ice but the amount of power outages is pretty small compared to what you’d think half an inch of ice would do. The strong trees survived the hurricanes and are doing work today.

I've got the St. Bernard headed your way with a full barrel around his neck. Keep the barrel; I want the dog back.

Thankfully I filled up an ice chest with water earlier this evening while we had water pressure (my tub stopper was broken so that’s why the ice chest). We have been without water since mid afternoon. We went for a drive to dinner right the down the street to Pho U because they were for some reason open. Electricity still going for now. Really hoping we keep electricity for the weekend because I have a course I need to take this weekend starting in the AM

ETA: I’m out of whiskey. I’ll be going to the circle K Tom to restock

Lost power at 630, no eta. House at 48 deg since that point. Baby with asthma can't breath cold air without coughing and she can't take a woodburning fire either...so I'm sitting here burning ungodly amounts of a pure NG in the fireplace.

Surprisingly warm if you are within 6 feet of it. Afraid of what my gas bill will be.

P.s. any ideas why my toilets are draining really slow? Septic tank.

Maybe ice build up in the drainage line in the tank? Crazy if so since that's a big arse pipe. But that's the only thing I can think of.

shite mine are too but I figure I’m not dumping enough water in it. I told the fiancé tonight that if it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down

Is there an electric aerator pump that breaks down the waste before or after it goes into the tank?

Are the sinks draining slow as well? If so, your drain pipe to the septic tank could be partially frozen.

There is. I wouldn't think it would clog the system that fast but it's possible. He'll the waste water might be frozen. I can diagnose and fix a few things around here but this cold weather stuff brings on a different breed of issues.

I'm not going out there to check until March though

I don't blame you.
