Finally got power back!!! Went out at 12:30pm.

Charging phone and cranked up heater to warm up since I’m sure it will go out again

I’ll be damned. I thought SPP covered all of LA. Turns out they don’t. SPP and MISO are basically the same type of organization.

I always thought rolling blackouts were due to insufficient power generation and not due to line problems?

So when they say rolling blackouts in Texas is this because they simply dont have enough power to go around?

In Louisiana, tree limbs are decimating the lines.

From what I've read, in Texas it's not enough generation.

Seems 9Fiddy either works in the power business or is intimately familiar with it. He'd be able to better answer your question.

I'm kinda hoping now that we get mostly sleet and the ice stay south.

I'm not experienced with winter precipitation, but I can deal with the sleet based on the past 24 hours. That stuff doesn't stick to anything. Couldn't believe I woke up this morning and the trees were completely bare. Not a drop of sleet or snow.

That's pretty messed up. Maybe the Feds will step in and make them build their power generation infrastructure up more.

I'd love to see more resilience of the power lines in the Baton Rouge area but I'm not sure how to do that short of burying the lines which would be very expensive.

I guest that’s why SWEPCO already had a couple of hours of of rolling blackouts today. They are SPP, but 90% of LA isn’t.

Cleco, Entergy and Lafayette used to be part of SPP. They moved to MISO a few years ago

This snow was very dry and powdery. The wind blew it off most trees.

I’ve never felt cold like this in Louisiana

I've sat in deer stands for hours in 20 degree weather. But the cold on my hands while taking my SIL back to her house, on the 4 wheeler, at 5pm today...ive never felt that type of feeling before.

It took 2 hours to stop stinging.

From what I’ve been reading tonight it was SPP that “overspent” with Entergy sometime in the past and that was the reason for last years $2 million refund to customers. Entergy had apparently switched to MISO in 2013. I think I got a $3 or $4 refund lol.
