at 9 PM... the wind chill at Alexandria Airport is already down to 3 degrees
actual temperature 18 degrees
winds NW @ 16 mph... gusting to 22 mph
I can feel drafts going through my house. I'll be surprised if we don't have a number of deaths result from this week.

guest that’s why SWEPCO already had a couple of hours of of rolling blackouts today. They are SPP, but 90% of LA isn’t.
I'm in in one of the few texas counties on SPP. Thankfully, SWEPCO announced earlier they are done with blackouts for the time being. Counties all around me are freezing and on Ercot.

ahh I see, makes sense that was about the timeline this last event took from y'all to CenLa. Keep us posted, hopefully this next one is a dud and we can get back to life.
I would imagine there will be a few deaths from this thing, if there haven't been already. I feel bad for anyone who is living outdoors regardless of any life decisions that may have brought them there.

I'm seeing snow flurries flying outside my window
I'm assuming it's stuff being picked up off the ground by the wind... but I still wasn't expecting it

Last time we got snow here it had stopped during the night but it looked like it was snowing the entire next day because it was blowing off the branches and roof. Could be that too.

Interesting is that 45 degree line of outages basically the edge of the storm front where the most ice formed?

Last check in AP on the shop wall was 22* with a slight north wind. Cold bitch outside, still cloudy.
Side note: if you are allergic to those fricking a-hole yellow flowers, they are frozen right now and explode with a satisfying shattered glass noise when you smack them with a stick. Hours of satisfying entertainment to be had outside.
I spent about 2 hours outside today all together. Had fun shattering flowers and breaking ice cycles.

1 to 3 inches, at most, I hope.
Seems to be more of an Oklahoma and east of us event.
Have been really, really impressed with how local towns and some churches have stood up shelters...makes me happy
Take care

Scattered flurries are falling around the area. So step outside if you’re sad you don’t live in Iowa. Beyond these ambiance flakes, models are trending colder for Wednesday. Of course they are. I’ll wait and see what the morning model trend is, but winter storm warnings are already in effect for the northern half of our area for the Wednesday storm. If model trends continue, these could be expanded south, or winter weather advisories could be issued. But another round of winter looks likely for at least a good chunk of the area. This one should mainly be freezing rain. Which is the one that could knock out power in places I’ll update before 10:30 AM.

I don’t understand how anyone in SLA would rather days like today instead of days where it is 100 degrees and you’re enjoying a nice swim in the pool and some cold beverages.

Yup, at least with 100+ degrees, you have electricity, don’t worry about pipes, drive on the road, run errands.
