I’m 50 miles north of Baton Rouge.

Looks like 3am we should be in the start of it. Praying people stay off the roads.

So far, Entergy isn't showing widespread outages anywhere, including Arkansas and Arkansas South.

Now that I've jinxed it, let's see what happens.

Meteorologist Nick Mikulas
Here it comes. Remember, the real show doesn’t hit until after 3:00 AM. It’s 24 degrees, and this is all freezing rain, sleet, or snow down to the coast. This is an uncommon, and incredible event. If you think I’m being dramatic, or overselling this, please understand that I’m not. If you still think I am, there is an option to block this page so you aren’t subjected to a heartfelt attempt at accurate information. If I’m wrong, I’ll keep trying to learn, but I’m telling you, this is one hell of a winter event that’s about to unfold. I was hoping for a nap, but I don’t know if that’s happening. I’ll be watching this all night. I’m liking the fact that the first good burst was mainly sleet at my house. I’d love to wheel that generator back to its rightful place in the shed. Freezing rain is not your friend. Sleet bounces off things. Freezing rain just grabs on and weighs down power lines and limbs. I’ll update off and on all night.
The hope is that this stays mainly sleet and snow. I’m thinking it’s predominantly sleet across a big part of the area, but this is an evolving situation. Stay tuned, and stay home.

Wow he's really starting to lose his shite...a couple of days ago he was going back and forth with a female who misspelled his name in a Facebook comment. I thought nobody could overtake Eachus' ego but wow

Yea, Jay is starting to lose his touch big time and his antics on Facebook over the past week have been very unprofessional.

Coming out and saying “hey, yes, the models do seem to support a winter weather event but it’s still a week away so let’s just keep an eye on it for now” is great but he was flat out ridiculing people on there who were asking about potential for the winter weather. He came across as quite an a-hole.

Heavy sleet turning into big arse flakes in Arcadia. I just walked the dogs and this is a different level of cold than we’ve had in a long while. Lewis Black described it once accurately. Where you walk outside and literally the only thing you can say is, “frick”

The Weather Channel just stated, with a large, bold graphic; that heavy snow is coming down in Jackson.

Jackson TN is getting it

Was supposed to be in Austin tonight. Would have been our last night there and would have driven home tomorrow morning.

I think we made the right move in cancelling that trip

They were showing the I20 I55 stack which is in MS - nary a flurry. The Weather Channel is a joke - maybe someone said look it’s coming down in Jackson, TN and some jackass thinks of MS. Which is kind of odd when some of their people don’t even know the name of the state and refer to it as the landmass between LA and AL.

Could Baton Rouge see some snow out of this? It seems like things have cooled down faster than expected.
