Can someone with more grooves in their brain explain why the temp is in the 20s and its still just sleeting and not snowing yet?
That yellow line is 32 degrees. The red line is the temperature as you go up. The precip is falling through that air that is above freezing and melting. Then it's falling through the cold air near the surface and refreezing as sleet.

It’s time to be off the roads. Remember, this is supposed to stay light until after midnight. Maybe after 3:00 AM. That’s totally expected. But with temperatures in the 20s in many areas, everything is freezing on contact. It just doesn’t take much ice to make travel really dangerous. As usual, just use common sense. Light freezing rain mixed with sleet will be the dominant precipitation type through midnight, then it should transition to mostly sleet, and potentially snow as this wraps up tomorrow around noon. I’m really interested to see how the very heavy rates will impact precipitation type. There are many factors at play there. But this is playing out as expected. Sit back, relax if possible, and hopefully keep that power on!

I'm mesmerized with how the truck is staying perfectly in the middle of the road

Fun night ahead of drinking, playing vr, and keeping logs on the fire while waiting for this shite to roll in.

whats the projections for Lafayette? TIA
Rob P is calling for 0.25 to half inch of ice. Unlikely to have any snow. Major-Prez Josh just announced a curfew for midnight. I got my sammiches and soup ready for tomorrow. Still grilling the wife and I our kobe filets for V-Day dinner. Cold be damned.

It might be my OCD or the fight that I’m winning the board drinking game right now but that looks oddly satisfying

Waiting for that band of snow to go through Dallas to get to Jim Cantore is like waiting for the eye wall to make landfall.

At first I was like wow it's going to snow in Galveston but I looked it up and it's snowed in Galveston 39 times in the last 120 years.
