Odd thread....a person who has evidently never made an effort to find or visit museums and historical attractions is whining about not having museums or historical attractions.

Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport

From the Sec of State page:

Completed in 1939 as one of the New Deal’s Public Works projects, the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum is an architectural jewel, in the ultra-modern style of the times. Layered inside and out with costly marble, granite and polished aluminum, the circular building surrounds a landscaped courtyard and features hand-cut limestone.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most impressive buildings in the state.

The original artworks include a monumental fresco on the front portico executed by famed muralist Conrad Albrizio that introduces the public to the beautifully rendered scale dioramas that portray a snapshot of Louisiana life in the 1930s. A topographical map by sculptor Duncan Ferguson illustrates the cultural geography of Louisiana. Within the Rotunda, numerous Louisiana artists contributed murals that portray Louisiana landscapes and historical events.

The West Wing gallery displays rotating art exhibits. The museum houses one of the most extensive collections of Louisiana Native American artifacts from pre-historic period to the present. The new Native American Gallery displays a Caddo culture log boat excavated from the Red River that is 1,000 years old and an impressive 30 feet in length.

They used to have an alligator in the pool in the courtyard. Every school kid in North La for a few decades saw him on field trips.

Many are not aware that Natchitoches is older than New Orleans.

Louis St. Denis founded Natchitoches-

All before Bienville and his founding of New Orleans-

Part of the problem stems from the diversity of Louisiana's history and culture.
Want to start a fight? Try to define what Creole actually is . I've witnessed Louisiana History professors argue this topic. want some weird stuff? Research the Natchez Indians.
The architecture of the French Quarter is really Spanish. And what were these 'quarters ' all about? (talk about segregation) . Feelings get hurt and folks storm out of symposiums.
Regional museums may be the best answer.

Me, I like to go where Andrew Jackson went, I've been to several places where he spent the night and where he married Rachel and it was disappointing. Go and find where Jefferson Davis buried his first wife, it is sad.

Such a weird random footnote battle.

American Revolution battle, but it was fought between the Spanish, Indians and British.

Gulf coast history is pretty interesting, that area has changed hands mores than anywhere else in current day America.

There are plenty of museums and attractions but we do a crappy job of letting the world know. Its amazes me how many native Louisianaians don't know where Poverty Point is or what it is.

Too much museum space in Louisiana is taken up with displays that are either about our long line of a-hole politicians or Mardi Gras crap.

I’ve always dug those little phones that let you hear the old time war tunes of the battle of New Orleans

How have I never heard of this? My family has been in New Orleans since the 1700s.

Man, there’s all kinds of history here. Hitler’s horse is buried just outside of New Orleans near the river on the German Coast. I’ve seen it.
