The reputation hasn't changed.

You'd be surprised at how few people know/care about this story.

Alexander's reputation has sure changed here in the state

We are the best state, I just wish we didn't let so many outsiders come in and ruin our culture

Yea I'm pretty sure people care about it. All I've seen for the last several months are posts bashing Jindal and how he is destroying LSU along with Alexander's ridiculous claims. People were definitely following this story, especially in Louisiana.

Can Alumni still join the Rec? I might reconsider with this new rec center I've seen in the news.

Bobby can suck a dick. He's tried everything in the book to make himself look good, all while draining every bucket he could since day one. Couldn't manage a lemonade stand.

Well they did cut the film tax credit. I'm glad they did that. I can't see how the offset of "jobs" it created outweighed the massive tak breaks people got.

I think the influx of money into the entire state, not just jobs, when a movie is being filmed here far outweighs the tax breaks.

This week another movie portrays Baton Rouge in a favorable light with Pitch Perfect 2. That shitty movie's impact on BR after the fact can't be easily quantified but certainly doesn't hurt the economy when people see our city on the big screen.

eta: Few weeks ago I was at City Pork on Jefferson and a group of funny-lookin folks(turned out to be from NYC and LA here for a TV production) spent a nice chunk of change in there. Their labor might be tax-free but it's income to the wait staff and the restaurant. I'm sure that goes on a LOT more than I witnessed as I'm poor and don't eat out much.

Bobby for President.

Let's see what magic he creates when he has FIFTY states and a military to carve up.

Alario supposedly had people up in arms on how he spend money from his PAC or something. What I read was that he was legal doing that , just not necessarily the best thing from an image standpoint.

Haven't heard about Feds looking.

There isn't a single person on this planet that will go watch Pitch Perfect 2 and say "gee that Baton Rouge looks like a sweet vacation spot, I'm gonna drop a couple grand for a visit".

Ease up on the Obama maths

Great more one time money. People don't get that next year we will be in the same boat if we do not have any regular recurring revenue.

With that much money just "forgotten about" somewhere there's no fricking way there isn't plenty more. Giving the state more money to misplace is stupid.

Oh for fricks sake. I wasn't talking about the vacationers. I'm talking about the scenes from LSU campus(in the first one for sure) enticing future students and for directors/producers of future films seeing these locations on screen. Ease up on being a puss.

Same goes for alumni like myself. While I understand his win-win plan of doom/gloom it doesn't mean I respect it.

I really doubt any high schooler watching Pitch Perfect decided to come to LSU based on the scenes from campus. Outside of Louisiana how many high schoolers actually knew that was LSU?

The highest-paying jobs are all given to people from out of state. That's like getting all jacked up on the jobs report because we added X number of jobs without accounting for how many full-time jobs were lost and how the vast majority of the jobs added were part-time.

Tax revenue due to the credits was in a decline since 2008. Where's the benefit?
