The Strawberry Festival has to be one of the trashiest festivals around. Grew up 10min from Ponchatoula and I don't think I've set foot in area during the festival in 30+ years.

Last year, the Thibodaux Firemen’s Fair had them.
I would assume the would have them again this year.

Just make the entry fee $5.
Unfortunately, that tactic doesn't work. I've seen hood rats flock to $40 a ticket events.
Setting an age limit works sometimes.
Not having events that attract the trash helps even more.

I guess you’ve never been to Creoles Fur and Wildlife festival.

It’s kinda sad that the problems that once only occurred at festivals in larger cities have spilled over to smaller towns. SouthLa has tons of great festivals. I guess that has to be ruined now too.

No, the outdoor festivals with problems need better organization and management.
You cannot find a better organized and managed festival than the strawberry festival. On the festival grounds there are police everywhere. They are also at every point of entrance to the grounds. The issue isn't the festival or the city. The issue is a certain demographic of ppl have zero self control and do not operate in a civilized manner.

So you’re saying we can’t have nice things because of a particular demographic?

Same. Fun day and lots of good memories. Will be back in the Quarter after the Classic next weekend.

and I wasn't talking about the Strawberry Festival

To discover more the crux of the problem, look, inwards.

I was there last night for my first strawberry festival. Didn’t hear the shots because the band was doing a great version of freebird. Suddenly everyone was saying get down. Shut the place down instantly. Was having a great time and didn’t see any problems before that. It’s a damn shame a few have to ruin it for the many.

I carried a bag in to French quarter fest about ten years ago. Had beer and maybe something else in there. Gate people really didn’t check. Was able to scoot through.

But felons don't have a right. I agree with our rights though. I have a right to go outside and have a peaceful time without worrying about getting shot. Us old folks not getting our needed sunshine Vitamin D.

You couldn't do this if you tried.
Guess it depends on the layout of the grounds. Scott Boudin Festival had metal detectors.
