No! Making sense and being practical doesn’t work with the framework of current government.

Good. Would be a massive waste of money that would become a shite hole once the novelty of it wore off

the state is going to spend another 500K to study the situation

I think some of this funding is a big money grab for consulting agencies to make bank on little worthless studies that are purposely written to show how “viable” a project is, but if built only have little to no ridership.

like trains and would like to see passenger rail revived, but BR-NO and Cali supertrain are huge boondoggles
. Massive public works in the US are too expensive and require too many inputs. They are largely a thing of the past.

Curious to know how many transportation “studies” are currently taking place.

While I would absolutely love a modern transportation infrastructure In this country I think we lost out on timing of high speed rail. May as well start getting infrastructure ready for automated vehicles, but we will probably get rail while everyone else uses automated

I actually don’t mind this. I never liked the thought of NOLA trash being able to hop on a train, come commit a bunch of felonies and then scooting back…

Neither city has a large enough population density that would allow them to have public transportation

How about fix the roads and bridges that are crumbling before even considering dumping billions upon billions into a damn hairbrained commuter rail?

Yup, those hwy 90 bridges that go into Mississippi need to be fixed asap just for their emergency value. Relying solely on I10 going east out of new Orleans is stupid.

Thank God. Of all the things the cities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans and the state need to focus on a passenger rail is waaaaay down the list.

Most are.

At least 20% of the cost of all goods and services are due to regulation of some type.

Hopefully Landry kills this stupid arse shite. Louisiana would be far better served with a light rail line between downtown Nola & MSY.

A train between MSY and the French Quarter?

Or is that too obvious.
