However, I've not heard of a single individual since maybe late February. So, who are these people?

I know of quite a few people who have gotten it recently. All but a few people in their late 80s either had no symptoms or very very minor symptoms. And the 80 year olds recovered just fine.

Yes, but isn't the medical consensus at this point that the vaccine will prevent serious illness that leads to hospitalization.

I see the Op's point. If someone is on Medicaid, paid for by the tax payers of the state, then there should be a penalty if they end up in the hospital because of their choice not to take the vaccine.

Of course this is just a pipe dream anyway and wont happen. People on Medicaid have no money to pay anything much less a Medicaid copay for Covid.

Please don't let this screw up football season, please don't let this screw up football season...

But who am I kidding, this will screw up football season. No tailgating and the stands will be empty if JBE gets his way.

Any idea what the percent positive on testing in Louisiana is. That has always been a pretty good indicator on when the spikes would level off, and I can't find that data anymore.

Imagine that. Cases are up. We would be done with this had we never been in lockdown in the first place. Can’t come out of lockdown with infected people and expect it not to spread again.

What about fat people? What about drug users? What about people who eat poorly? Should all of them also pay a special co-pay?

There is a hell of a lot more being spent on people who make poor diet and exercise decisions than those who rely on their own immune systems to fight this virus.

Today was 21% 6797 cases on 32,315 tests.

We're taking care of our shite up here in Regions 7 & 8- cases are up, but not nearly to the same degree as Regions 1-4 and 9

Actually, there is...the pain that typically comes with stupidity.

Unfortunately, our society has gone to great lengths to protect people from that vaccine.

Only chance we have is if we plateau in the next 2 weeks and by football season we have had 3-4 weeks of a sharp decline. Otherwise, I am afraid you are correct.

Why did it take 4 months to spread? I don't know the answer, either, but I'm interested in your theory

I’m vaccinated. So why do I need to wear a mask?

Delta is more contagious but otherwise not much different. And this summer is the first time everybody is really back to normal

but what I don't understand is how is this thing so prevalent in 106 degree heat index weather? I thought UV light was already proven to be a strong combatant or deterrent.
Heat is one thing. UV is another.

As happened last summer, when it got really hot, people stayed inside then cases went up and many got sick enough to head to the hospital.

We saw this in Arizona. There was an interesting stat last summer that 98+% of all hospital admittances for COVID were Vitamin D deficient. I wonder if that is still holding true.
