Hate to say it, but if JBE was extending phase 2 when LA had sub 600 hospitalization, he'll extend phase 2 for many more months now that hospitization is 1500+.

There's been 25 deaths in New Orleans since July 1st. I don't have the number of murders in the city but you can guess which is higher. Which is the priority in the city right now.

Delays are built in when collecting any data. Autopsies have to be done and death certificates and paperwork have to be filled out. Seems like day 4 is where the largest jumps are seen. Usually by day 10 they are leveled out, but there might be a random death added here or there.
LDH data acknowledges this. They have traded first time accuracy for reporting to the public quickly.
The alternative would be witholding death data for 8-10 days, which people would really bitch about.

Maybe it's just me, but I fail to see how "daily" deaths are really relevant to anything, considering the random and variable nature of when people die. We need total deaths for CFR and IFR, and a rough monthly trend might tell us something, but that seems to be it to me
Daily cases, positive rate, and hospitalizations seem to be a much more important to determining the trajectory of infections
