don't think that ever had a shot.
but
"related to the types of activities you have at bars where you have people close together drinking without masks, talking to each other, talking loudly over music"
because people getting shitfaced in a place that serves food would never do any of this.

Where are all these Covid deaths occurring???
A nursing home in LCH reported 6 new deaths bringing their total to 20. Several other nursing home deaths in SWLA. This thing went through several homes like wildfire this go around. Last case count I heard from the previously mentioned nursing home was 113 and that was a couple weeks ago.

What's the point of the stupid line about the percentage of cases of those who are 29 and below? Are we supposed to be surprised that a segment of the population that is roughly a third of the population has a third of the cases?

It stayed out of the parish where I live for quite a while but Is here nkwnwith a vengeance. Also at my grandmothers nursing home in Evangeline parish — they’ve got about 50% of residents as new cases if I read the chart right.

I agree with this part of your statement.

Calcasieu had a later spike as well, IMO, directly attributed to misinformation downplaying significance and public being fed up with quarantine.

NOW
No Phase 3 until deaths start decreasing.

Dr. Billioux also defended the restrictions on gatherings. He says an individual has a 90% chance of coming into contact with someone infected with COVID-19 in a gathering of 50 people,
Can someone figure the math on that?
Posted on 8/6/20 at 1:08 pm to LSUJML
The math is simple. The great doctor is saying that 45 of the 50 people at the gathering are positive.

The nursing homes are being ravaged and until a vaccine they will continue to struggle,

I refuse to believe the daily death numbers.
They are probably old. I doubt they can report until death certificate is issued.

In all seriousness, I too would like to know how that was quantified.
If I had 50 people over to my house, and 1 person had it, I could see how over the course of the evening most other 49 people would at some point have contact with that person, thus increasing all of our chances by some percentage.
However, if I'm at Hooters and their are 50 people in there, I would only have contact with my server and maybe a couple of other people at most. I would think that percentage would be much lower than in my other example.
So how she came up with that number seems quite arbitrary given that she didn't specify the conditions.

I don't think of a gathering of 50 as a trip to Hooters. I think of it as like a wedding. If 1 person has it at a wedding then I can see where you would come into contact with it. Bathroom, Bar, Food, Tables, etc.

Like I said earlier after weeks of no cases a staff member brought it in & infected 2 residents at my Grandpas home
You are not going to keep it out of nursing homes with the massive amount of staff turnover

Isn’t there a qualifier of 15 minutes so passing someone in the hall at a wedding venue on the way to a restroom shouldn’t count
CDC
Data are insufficient to precisely define the duration of time that constitutes a prolonged exposure.
Recommendations vary on the length of time of exposure, but 15 minutes of close exposure can be used as an operational definition.
Brief interactions are less likely to result in transmission; however, symptoms and the type of interaction (e.g., did the infected person cough directly into the face of the exposed individual) remain important.

So there's a 90% chance one person will get covid at a 50 person gathering?
What is that? Like 1.8% chance per person?
