Can people that chew really loudly hear themselves chewing? It's one of the most annoying sounds I think I have ever heard.

In some cultures it's considered a compliment to the host.

There's actually a medical term for people that are really annoyed by it. I am.

One of the things my dad made damn sure us kids didn't do is smack on our food. He hardly tolerated us chewing gum around him.

I have involuntary reactions when I hear someone eating. Is to the point I fell like I need ADA accommodations and my own parking spot.

quote:

Misophonia is a disorder of decreased tolerance to specific sounds or their associated stimuli that has been characterized using different language and methodologies.[4] Reactions to trigger sounds range from anger and annoyance to activating a fight-or-flight response.[5] The condition is sometimes called selective sound sensitivity syndrome. Common triggers include oral sounds (e.g. loud breathing, chewing, swallowing), clicking sounds (e.g. keyboard tapping, finger tapping, windshield wipers), and sounds associated with movement (e.g. fidgeting).[5] Hated sounds are often repetitive in nature.

Thank God I don't live in one of these places.

I've solved the problem by always eating with the TV or music on. People who eat in silence are weirdos.

Have you experienced LiverKing, on social media?

How anyone can stand to be within earshot of him while eating is a mystery to me.

chewing gum

My wife’s (no pics) mom and nanny (still no pics) chew their gum to where it makes tiny bubbles and every other chew is not only a chew/chomp/smack, but a tiny pop. I would love to punch them in the face when they are together normally (think they know everything and feed off each other with this gangsta Opelousas talk), but when they are together and chewing gum I can picture slowly cutting their heads off and then practicing punting while trying to hit the score board at AT&T stadium in Dallas.

This is a beautiful rant. I wish I knew who you were talking about lol. Have a feeling I may know them.

My old man knocked me off the barstool when I was young because I wouldn't stop smacking.

I don't smack my food anymore.

I have to think no. Because if they can I'll start punching them in the face.
