I dated a girl from Holy Angels (N.O.) back in the 80s. I didn’t see that on the list.

Stewart Prep in Metairie.

Rummel bought it out and turned it into the 8th grade campus. School building was such a shite hole, it’s now an indoor batting and pitching cage along with the soccer team’s field house. It also contains Rummel’s robotics team lab.

Lynn Dean school in St Bernard.

Mt Carmel and CHS-NI wasn’t a true consolidation. It is my understanding that CHS wanted to merge for years, but the nuns always said no. Reason being, CHS was owned by the four church parishes in NI, whereas Mt. Carmel was owned by the Carmelite Order. I graduated in ‘83 from MCA and I believe they started with cross registration for certain classes a year or two after. After a few years, CHS said they were going to start admitting girls full time.MCA closed in 1988, still one of the saddest days on Bayou Teche. Many teachers from MCA went on to teach at CHS and the Mt. Carmel community is very grateful that many of our traditions were graciously incorporated by CHS.

GK was the odd school out haynes needed a new building and the area around GK has likely the highest density of private school students in LA. HS enrollment in JP publics is tanking.

That consolidation made Bonnabel one of the biggest schools in the state

Like Ecole, still there but you don’t hear much about them these days

We had a bunch of closures this year… Sicily Island, Central-Jonesville (Larto), MLK Charter in the lower 9th ward, and Delores Taylor Arthur, who ended with a football record all-time of 0-2 without scoring a point… shame because they had a cool name and logo (Airmen)

Bethany Christian

The one that was close to Baker?

I guess I never thought about it, but I didn't know it closed down.

Growing up, I knew a few kids who went there. In fact, a kid down the road from me growing up went there. And one day he got into it with some other kids in the neighborhood while playing basketball. He was like "I am going to get some of my friends on the basketball team to come over and none of yall could beat us 3 on 3". Then at some point him and 2 or 3 guys, in their school basketball shorts, came to play and I think they lost one or two games then they left..... That's what I think when I think about Bethany.

One you don’t have on this list is Woodlawn of Plaquemines Parish, on the east bank and closed in the early 70s. There’s a fire station and parish dump on the site now, and you can still see the light poles standing

St. Bernard had Violet Consolidated which was all black and closed with integration… for the spring semester of 2006 Chalmette’s teams played as St. Bernard Unified which was how we were represented in the playoff brackets

Moreauville + Simmesport = Avoyelles

You are kinda right. When Avoyelles Parish consolidated it’s schools in the summer of 1988 here is how it broke down

Cottonport, Bunkie, and Hessmer became Bunkie High

Marksville, Lafargue, and Fifth Ward became Marksville High

Moreauville, Bordelonville, Plaucheville, Mansura, and Simmesport became Avoyelles High.
