Was in Destin years ago. Kept seeing this 10x10 dark spot about 50 yards off the beach and decided to put on my snorkel stuff and check it out. When I got there, it appeared to be a very slow-moving underwater eddy - turning counter-clockwise if I remember right. Lots of trash in it, but upon closer inspection, I saw paper money in the mix. 1 x $5 and 4 x $1. It was like finding a treasure chest full of gold!

Somebody dropped a $100 bill in a Racetrac store. I found it when I went in for a cup of coffee.

When I was a teen I found a stolen car abandoned in the woods. Looked in the glovebox and found the address of the owner. Since it was only three miles away, my friends and I decided to ride our bikes there to tell the owner in person that we found their car.
They hooked us up with a pizza and pool party at their house while the cops fetched the car from the woods.

I was walking the beach in Perdido with a little Füt and the youngin' found a stainless ID tag from a crematorium in Tampa with a number on it. From a burial at sea, obviously.
The next time I went deep sea fishing I returned it about 20 miles offshore.
Found a $100 bill on the pavement at a gas station in Slidell on the day of a home Saints game.

When I was 12 or 13 me and a buddy found $400 floating in the wave pool at Blue Bayou.
Kept it and didn't tell anybody. Still don't feel bad about it.

I'm generally a Golden Rule person, whether at work or at home.
If I look back on my life so far, it's been a pretty good philosophy from the results.

I found a $20 bill in the parking lot outside of the grocery store. I checked to see if anyone was around who might have dropped it, but I just kept it because I wasn't going to go bring it into the store.. Tell them I found $20 and then ask "did anyone lose $20".. After all, it was only $20.

One time at the Bayou (yeah, I'm old), I found what I thought was a ten dollar bill on the ground. I grabbed it, and stuffed it in my back pocket. I honestly forgot all about it the rest of the time there. It wasn't til later at home when I took it out of said pocket and looked at it..."hey, that's Ben Franklin!"

I don't know what the law is in Florida, but in Louisiana, it is illegal to dispose of human remains anywhere other than a designated cemetery. People can keep cremated remains, but not dispose of them outdoors. That being said, when my FIL died, his wish was that his ashes be scattered near his favorite fishing hole. The guy at the Crematory explained the law to me and then said that IF I choose to dispose of them another way, I should keep the tag attached to the bag of ashes. He said if found, they could trace it back to him, and, since I signed for them, he would turn my name over to the authorities. Of course we followed my FIL's wishes and my BIL kept the tag. It was one of the best things I've ever done for someone in my life and I still feel good about it. It was good that you returned the tag to 'the deep'. It was obviously someones wishes and you should feel good about it! Not related to the OP, but reminded me of the story.

I was hunting one time in the woods behind Pollard Estates subdivision when I saw a handlebar sticking up from a swampy area. I waded into the water and pulled out a motorcycle. It turned out to be my friend's bike that was stolen from his house in Meadow Lea.

Found a wallet with $400 cash and a gold necklace in it 20' down in the Caymans. Almost choked to death diving that deep with the snorkel
The guy happened to be staying at our resort and when I met him in person to return it, he gave me the cash.
