The trade-off is you now have a remote where the batteries run down much faster because it has an active component.
So you are either constantly replacing the alkalines or you stick in a rechargeable and now you have the problem of having to charge the remote to use it.
Understand why they're not ubiquitous yet?

You need to get you a “dad” remote. I had to do it after tearing down the entire house once looking for the remote right before a football game.
Our TV has 2 remotes. One for the TV and one for the firestick....Firestick remote always gets lost due to my brainless at times wife and a 5yr old kid.
I have my own set of remotes for the TV kept in a cabinet that only I use when the others get lost.

My new remote is about as big as my thumb and has two buttons on it and runs the tv and sat, and so small i can hardly hang on to it. In contrast, I remember when I was the fkn remote.
