So sorry. My little buddy is 14.5 years. I can only hope he passes in his sleep. That drive to the vet is worse than hell.

Sorry to hear that. I had a black lab that got out and got hit by a car. I found him and cried like a baby on the side of the road while holding him.

This doesn’t really apply but by chance I heard Burt Ward on the radio Friday. The Robin to Adam West’s Batman. He’s an incredible dog guy and has one 27 years old. He said during the show he had 50 dogs around him while talking and none barked. Anyway, thought was cool and maybe take your mind off the sadness of losing one.

The silver lining is that your buddy passed away in the confort of his own home. Mine of 13 years passed away last August. I drove him to the vet with the intent of putting him down but saw just enough in him at the vet's office to bring him back home again. He passed away peacefully at home a few days later. So glad I didn't have to make that decision and put ourselves through that process.

My dog of 14 years passed away last May while we were on vacation. Miss coming home and having her wait for me everyday. Still cannot get another one as I dont need that much pain again....

I, too, am reluctant to adopt another. I loved my guy and look back on his time with me with laughs and love now, but my God...the few months after he died were some of the hardest of my life. Not exaggerating either.

Maybe in time, but for now, I can't think of going through that again.

Rainbow bridge; I’ll see him again one day. I cried for weeks after I lost my last dog.

I'm so sorry. My 11 year old dog passed last summer and I still get choked up thinking about him.
