You said you didn't know? Who told you to say you didn't know? I didn't tell you to say you didn't know. Why did you say you didn't know? You've been to your lawyer's. If someone's gonna say you didn't know, let your lawyer say you didn't know.

From the Report

"On the facts here, the government would unlikely be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that June 9 meeting participants had general knowledge that their conduct was unlawful. The investigation has not developed evidence that the participants in the meeting were familiar with the foreign-contribution ban or the application of federal law to the relevant factual context.'

That's legal talk for he was too dumb to know better.

Apparently, her lawyer is not aware of the maxim "ignorance of the law is no excuse"

I'll be watching this one curiously. For her class, there is precedent for lack of intent or lack of knowing it was illegal being acceptable in the court of law. They dont play by the same rules we do.

Look to see if she decides to waive her right to a jury and have a judge determine guilt. That will be key.

In reality why would she? I doubt she knows what a gallon of gas or a loaf of bread cost.

I was visited recently by some very good friends who are successful and I respect. They stayed for a week. Yeah a week.

Anyway, they have tons of money and are successful and have zero clue what the world is like anymore. They live in their bubble.

I'm sure she is the same. She's innocent. It's society that has done this.

This sounds like the affluenza argument. One pile of $#it got away with it recently.

Depends on where you draw the line. You want season suite tickets at an LSU football game. Will a 500 dollar donation get you the rights to even buy tickets? Nope. Will 5000? Nope. How much of a donation will get you the amount of points you need? Who knows? The people you need to bribe.

The analogies to donations to legit charities, like the school endowment fund or athletic department, need to stop. They are silly.

You can donate all you want to LSU and perhaps get special privileges. Just like you can donate to a museum and get access to special art showings. But write a check to LSU's ticket manager directly or the museum director and it's bribery.

They’ve got to prove intent. If she says she didn’t know it was illegal to give money to a school to get her kid in, why wouldn’t anyone believe that? Hell, I didn’t know it was illegal to write an endowment check to get your kid in.

I think she’s going to have a VERY hard time claiming that she didn’t know it was wrong to pay off a middleman, bribe an athletic coach to claim her daughter was on the team, take fake pictures of her daughter playing said sport, AND deduct all of it off her taxes.

Put a couple of parents of students that have worked hard to get into college on the jury and Aunt Becky is fricked.

that actually wasn't used as a defense at trial, that term was testimony at the sentencing hearing, and the guy that testified immediately regretted coining the term

I know, dear, isn't it sad that the Rule is "Ignorance of the Law is no excuse?"

What kind of White Man who hates Women would make such a rule?

Whom is it that can't read? This statement applies strictly to the government and it's investigation. Nowhere does it definitively state DJT,Jr claimed ignorance.

It seems like a valid defense based off of what the definition of "Bribery" is in the legal sense. They have to prove that she knew someone was getting bribed and she wasn't just greasing the admission process by making a donation to the school. I refuse to believe that Aunt Becky would knowingly break the law.

Didn’t she put her daughter’s picture on somebody pretending to be on a row team that doesn’t exist? Besides paying the 500,000 dollars. Good luck with that
