You know this isn't being handled in court. There's no legal action being taken. It's a voluntary gesture from the administration.

You are not correct. There is a class action lawsuit against the US Government that was filed by the ACLU on behalf of several of the families.

Wait, wasn’t the separation policy an Obama era thing meant to curtail human trafficking by verifying that the child actually belongs to the accompanying adult?

Or am I just going insane?

Most of the time I get mad about this kind of stuff and forget about it after reading it but this is one of those things that I’d depressing and has stuck.

I work my arse off pay taxes obey the law, have to pay for private school for my kids education, don’t get free stuff but oh well. I continually have more of my income taken away in taxes, it’s frustrating but hey it is what it is. It’s the price of success right? I believed when they said that if you work hard it will pay off you’ll get ahead etc.

Now people are about to get a check just could pay for my kids schooling over and over for their life, pay off my mortgage and on and on and on because they came here illegally when they were told not to, got reunited with their kids after being vetted and then are trying to use the legal system of this country against me and my country to take money that I am giving up in taxes? Meanwhile contributing to inflation by the country printing money to pay for it which further devalues my hard earned income

This is frigging bullshite and any one taking up for this shite needs to look in the eyes of every homeless vet, every hungry us citizen and tell them so.

I feel the same.

It’s even worse thinking about what would happen, and what the media reaction would be if I as a normal middle class white dude broke a law in some shite hole backwards arse country. There would be no tears shed for me and I’d be in debt to eyeballs to get home.

I have no doubt they will do this behind the scenes to try and hide it from the public

You want to get swept in the next election? This is how you do it.

Assuming the count is legitimate. And maybe that's the thing, they know it's not, and they can get away with this.

We deserve to have this happen. This country has allowed the welfare state to explode the last 8 decades. We are $29 trillion in debt, and yet how much of our annual budget pays fat, stupid and lazy arse people to sit at home and not work? How much of our annual budget subsidizes bad decision making? This idiotic proposal is simply a natural consequence of an out-of-control welfare state used by politicians to buy the votes of the lowest common denominators.

And the crazy thing is, we keep electing them. The American electorate has continued to vote for people who either tacitly or expressly endorse this fiscal insanity. The voters of this country chose John McCain and Mitt Romney over Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012. Then we elected Barack Obama. Now we've put a demented man with the brain of a potato in the White House. We fricked around and have found out.
