Yes, this has been discussed, but the thread is old and stale.

So here is an update.

But I recognize, I am not a perfect person; none of us is. I certainly wasn’t as a teenager, and I am not as an adult. When I was young and dumb – I did dumb things. Because of great teachers, coaches, administrators and mentors in my life, and the unconditional love of my parents, I was able to overcome, learn and grow from my childhood mistakes.

That's an admission, right? I mean, the whole letter uses some really amazing political weasel-words... but I guess that's as close to an admission as we are going to get.

I still don't understand what's happening here. If he's innocent... ignore it until it goes away. If he's guilty, just say he did it, say he's sorry, it was a long time ago, and move on.

This whole handling is very, very odd.

So, he is being attacked for bullying 30-40 years ago?

That is stupid.

Most people I spoke with believed the guy saying he was bullied.

I just don't think anyone thought it mattered.

From what I've heard it wasn't much of a secret that in the district that he was a reformed bully. He even mentioned it before.

The particular instance that started it was in question though. The one where he laughed (in actuality it wasn't Hindt that laughed but another board member).

There is some dude that has some sort of personal vendetta against him because his kid was bullied apparently and KISD "doesn't care" or some shite like that. KISD isn't any different than other districts with regards to bullying. They are also attacking him about stuff that wasn't even under his watch. They tried some gotcha type thing about a teacher that slept with a student but it was form years ago before he was the super.

I feel like the guy with all this non-admission stuff is making it worse than it needs to be.

Very, very few people would hold this against him, especially if he just came out and said, yeah, I was an idiot, I'm sorry. Especially if KISD continues to be a great school district.

This is really a nothingburger that is being turned into a cheeseburger simply because of the bizarre way the super is handling it. He is getting some bad advice.

Every school in this country, private, religious, or public, is dealing with bullying issues. It's a HUGE problem, and in reality, most of the bullying isn't even taking place in the halls of the school building. It's all this online stuff.

We had a kid in our rec baseball that was being bullied by another kid. During practices. We noticed it, and decided the best way to handle it, after consulting with both sets of parents and other coaches, was to move both kids to different teams, so they would be apart from each other.

But the kid is still being bullied online, outside of rec ball, etc. The parent of the bullied kid wants us to kick the bully out of the league. We can't do that. I feel for the kid and the family, but we can't do that.

It's an issue.

I didn't click on the link but read somewhere that there was apparently (?) another incident in which the Katy ISD Super put another guy in a coma (which I think was as an adult). Possibly that no charges were filed due to being paid off. Does anyone know more about that story?

supposedly he one punched some dude and put him in a coma. I've seen it also reported that they guy put his hands on Hindt first.

There was no criminal charges. The guy also got nothing in the actual court judgement.

People saying his parents paid someone off I actually find kind of hard to buy. If you look at the court documents (you can find his folks address) his parents lived in a decent house. If definitely wasn't anything super expensive for the 80s. It was a modest house and not even close to one of the nicer neighborhoods in Katy in the 80s (Memorial Parkway).

Although he played football at OU and with all the corruption in and around Texas in HS football at that time I could see some booster making a payment.

Damn, if all adults were judged at what they did as a middle schooler / high schooler, we'd all be f'd.

Hindt's parents should show up to the next meeting and speak out about he was a little shite when he was 3 years old and it caused them serious emotional damage that they still live with today.

The perception of bullying is worse. The proliferation of social media can make some cases seem worse.

"Bullying" is an ages old rite of passage"

So, if his practice of bullying WERE a crime at the time that he committed the acts, it would certainly be well outside of the statute of limitations. Not to mention he was also a child. This trial by public opinion shite is circumventing our due process as citizens. There needs to be consequences for slander like this, and on the institutions that cater to the whims of the mentally-challenged general population.

On what basis is a fact actually a fact, and simply not the perception of any one person or people?
